Dark bodied with a brown underskin. Velvety, creamed chocolate head. Dry barley aroma that is lacking roast character. An idea of oats in the air. Smooth body, but no roast character. Pretty dull overall.

I liked this one more than most other raters--I thought it had a more complex taste than others are giving it credit for. the aroma was smoked, peppery, vanilla, bourbon and coffee, with the same tastes along with a slight bitter grassy taste. Perhaps it was just different, after 15 tastes, but I thought it an enjoyable stout.

On tap at Pike Street location. Color was dark brown/black with a creamy head; nitro. Aroma was chalky and a bit oaty; not too roasted. Flavor was same with a touch of tartness. I believe that was by design. Not a huge fan of this one.

On tap. Black with big nitro head. Good roast with some chocolate and coffee. Smooth and creamy...enjoyable on this damn cold day. Not that boldest stout in the world, nor should it be.

Skyview (5269) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - AUG 20, 2008
Guest beer on nitro at the 1221 E. Pike Street brewery in Seattle, Washington. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a creamy off-white head that has some excellent retention and lacing from the nitro charge. Aroma of toasted dark malt, dark chocolate, a touch of coffee and some dark pitted fruits. Taste is smooth and semi-sweet with flavors of toasted dark malts, chocolate and some light coffee. Finish has a mild metallic texture with some smoothness and toasted dark malt aftertaste.

On tap at Elysian Fields--Poured a deep, dark black body with a glow of amber in the light. Nice thick beige head and and a dark nutty, chocolate nose. Mild coffee an d toffee notes. Creamy, smooth with a roasted complexity. Finished with some fruitiness and a gentle quaffability.

PilsnerPeter (3028) - Flushing, New York, USA - JUL 7, 2008
Tap at Barcade: Near opaque pour with ruby at the edges in the light. Aroma has dark malt character. Chocolate and mild coffee roast. Fizzy and thin body. Not an appetizing texture. Flavor has less character.Grainy chocolate and stale coffee grinds which lead to an ashy/metallic finish. Unpleasant roasted and bitter character stays on the tongue. In-cohesive and unappetizing.
