Fantastic stout. Perhaps my favorite "pumpkin beer" as well. Had it on tap at Chuck’s Hop Shop, and it was even better than in the bottle. Delicious, decadent stuff.

22 poured into a stout glass offers a dark abyss in a glass topped with a minimal, latte-colored head. The aroma is heavy nutmeg, cinnamon and is slightly nutty. I tip the glass for a first sip expecting nothing but spices, but am surprised by the depth of the flavor. I feel the cinnamon on the tip of my tongue, the nutmeg on the sides, but there’s a nice, dark, cocoa foundation holding everything together. Not over-spiced at all, lightly bitter with a short-lived and fairly dry finish. The carbonation is heavy enough to carry the brew, and maybe a little more than I am appreciating, but still not over the top.
This is the first solid pumpkin beer I’ve tried, and am excited that it was an Elysian. A good pumpkin stout!

Cinnamon seems to be the dominant factor, in both aroma and taste. A little nutmeg is also obvious. These two flavors mostly obscure the stout underneath, but also blends nicely. Overly smooth, slightly savory, and all around nice fall seasonal.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle to glass. Pours a deep brown to black color with a creamy brown head. Aroma is chocolate chip cookie with a touch of pumpkin and spice. Flavor has lots of chocolate, touch of roasted malts, and just the right amount of pumpkin, not overdoing it. Medium body with a lingering chocolate roasted malts. Excellent pumpkin beer and stout!

A: Opaque black with a firm foamy cappuccino head. Lacing.
N: Cinnamon, nutmeg, cocoa, coffee, pumpkin, cola, earth, dry leaves, tobacco, some graham cracker.
T: Bitter and sweet, leaning heavily towards the first.
M: Medium - heavy body. Chalky.
O: Better than Punkuccino. Could actually use more sweetness on this one. Too much cinnamon as well.

Pours almost black, hints of deep brown around the edges with a mocha head. Aroma of cinnamon and slight chocolate. Taste is cinnamon with a nice chocolate presence. Some other pumpkin pie spice as well, only a trace of pumpkin though. Yummy stout, but misses the mark. Body is right for the ABV.

Bottle. Black with thin tan head. Aroma is straight pumpkin bread. Taste follows pretty closely and adds some roasted malt. Thin sticky mouthfeel. Eh.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rattle ’n’ Hum, NYC tap: Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate, pumpkin, and cinnamon. This has a very unique taste. It is nice and full bodied. The spiciness gives this a nice taste throughout. I don’t know if I really tasted much of the pumpkin seeds for example. However, this was a pretty unique stout.
