This was on tap at Brouwers called the Legendary Herbert. I am going with bitbucket. This ismore than likely the right beer? Aroma is of doughy malts, caramel, citrus, and floral hops. Pours hazy amber with a thin bubbly head. Sweetish fruity IIPA, not too bitter, dry or resiny, but a nice citrus/floral hop presence is there. Pretty nice stuff.

I guess this is the right beer? On tap at Malt & Vine. Lightly hazy copper with a lacy off-white head. Sweet mango, grapefruit and toffee nose, full body and moderate carbonation. The taste had all the same stuff. Bittersweet finish. Like Kaiser, I wish I would have kept better notes on this one.

UPDATED: JAN 10, 2007 Tasted at Elysian downtown and at Tangletown (Elysian offshoot pub) on cask. This Imperial Red/IPA was made specifically to be tasted from the cask. Pours a very cloudish copper orange color. The aroma is very intense on the hop side, also contains hints of citrus. At first taste this brew comes off INCREDIBLY intense on the hop side of things, which then moves into a sweeter note with butterscotch candy. Hops are tasted all the way through the finish, which is where the bitterness really sets in. I’m not a huge hophead, but the complexity of this one is very intriguing, and I found it to be quite nice (while extremely wild and intense!).

On this on cask a month or two back at Elysian Tangletown. They said it was a tribute to one of the PNW brewing pioneers...Very strong brew. Good hops...very alcoholic. Wish I would have wrote more.
