Commercial Description:
A smooth and sturdy stout, made with 10% rolled oats, roasted barley and chocolate malt. The name is referential to the founders of Thebes, warriors who sprang from the earth when the teeth of a slain dragon were sown by Cadmus. Bittered with Chinook; finished with Cascade and Columbus hops.

Black, 2 finger tan head. Strong and bold, stays shy of the intensity of an imperial. Oily, rich, little smoky. Sturdy and...well...stout.

Poured a deep brown color with some ruby highlights and a nice tan head. Aroma was roasted malt, coffee, some chocolate and some bitterness. Nice smooth mouthfeel, some good roast malt notes, a bit of chocolate, creamy full and full on the palate without any overwhelming bitterness. Very nice stout.

Smells chocolaty and a bit smokey. Flavor is chocolate malt, smoke, finishes with a cocoa bitter. Nice creamy mouthfeel.

RattlenHum: Dark, "stouty" color. No head, but decent lacing?! Again another stout chratceristic I guess. Hard to get a read on the aroma. Bitter, coffee, malty chocolate in flavor. Smooth, yet I wish it was a bit more creamy. Medium carbonation, some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Aroma overpowers of melted dark chocolate. Thick but smooth finish. Chocolate taste with hints of tobacco and marshmellow. Simply a Bomber.

A fairly sweet, malty stout with a rich coffee flavor. I could also taste herbal hops and tobacco notes. An excellent stout. On tap at Rattle n Hum.

A crazy tasty beer. First, thanks to my buddy Mike B. for bringing this back on his trip up north. It’s been awhile since I’ve had an Elysian brewed beer, so I was pretty geeked up. This definitely did not dissappoint.

The beer glugs out of the bomber with a black as black body. I can start smelling the invinting aroma just from the air being pushed out of the glass from the liquid. Lots of dark roasted malts/coffee aromas, smoke, Hershey’s chocolate bar, molasses and some vanilla. Flavor seemed to have a fair amount of residual sweetness left behind, which worked incredibly well with the malt profile. Roasted malts, charred chocolate, anise, scorched marshmallows, coffee and caramel are all present and quite tasty. A little vanilla shows up about mid-palate and finishes with a light bitterness. Mouthfeel is smooth, creamy and perfect. Thankfully I have 2 more of these!!

Pours inky black with a few bubbles on top. No head at first, but then this thin tan velvety layer of head appears. Looks very sophisticated. Aroma is roasted malt with a little espresso. Flavor is espresso, chocolate, and roasted malt. Full body, silky mouthfeel make this an absolute pleasure to drink. Yum.
