Commercial Description:
A smooth and sturdy stout, made with 10% rolled oats, roasted barley and chocolate malt. The name is referential to the founders of Thebes, warriors who sprang from the earth when the teeth of a slain dragon were sown by Cadmus. Bittered with Chinook; finished with Cascade and Columbus hops.

Bomber poured a clear dark brown nearly black with a lasting creamy brown head and good lacing. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt, light vanilla, light fruittiness and a hint of licorice. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and hints of vanilla and licorice with a smooth lingering roasty bitter finish.

Bomber courtesy of SuzyGreenberg. Pours jet black with two fingers of creamy, light brown head that leaves behind patchy lace. The nose is a big blend of dark roasted malt, chocolate, light char and touches of black cherry and alcohol. Medium-bodied and silky with a roasted and moderately bitter finish. The oats used in this recipe certainly come through in the mouthfeel. Roasted and moderately sweet chocolaty malt with a slightly tart fruitiness (cherries?), coffee and a mildly bitter-hopped and roasted finish. This is a very nice beer, and it represents just one more reason to be jealous of the beer selection available to those in the Seattle area. Thanks again for the bottle, Ben!

Bottle. Aroma of sweet coffee and roasted malt. Flavor focuses on sweet malt but has a bitter finish with some fruitiness and alcohol. Full bodied, fairly creamy, and smooth. First few sips seemed like just another stout, but it turned out to be quite tasty.

Bottle. Pours black with a pretty dark tan head. Aroma of roasted and sweet malt. Flavor is very sweet, lots of sweet malt along with some bitter chocolate. Smooth palate. This was just ok for me, a little too sweet.

[1343-20080516] 1pt6floz bottle. Heavy chocolatey roast malt aroma. Dark brown black body with a medium-lasting creamy dark tan head. Coffee roast malt continues in the flavour. Full body. Quite a good and rough stout.

Based on this beer alone, I would be really curious to try some more beers from this brewing company. Sample at the Most Honorable SuperHappyFun Stout Tasting: Aroma is coffee, burnt sugar. Roasted chocolate malts. A bit ashy, and packed with chocolate, this has just the perfect amount of spicy hop to balance it out.

This one surprised me. I had passed this one up in the store many times but finally decided to give it a try and glad i did. Heavy nose of rum raisins, cherry liquer. Smooth on the tongue and generous with the roasted chocolate and overall rummy flavour. Finishes well with some good bitterness. The balance is something of a miracle here...allowing the natural elements to shine through. One interesting thing aboiut Dragonstooth is that it is a 7.4% abv but somehow manages to taste like it is higher....weird. Very enjoyable stout!
