Velvety smooth with incredible lacing as the head foam coated the inside of glass. One of the best beers I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting. matt7215 (956), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 29, 2008 bomber from a trade with SuzyGreenberg (drink his homebrew its the shit). pours black with a small tan head. aromas are a bit shy but coffee and chocolate stand out also some hops present on the nose. flavours are smooth and complex with the barley driven coffee flavour as the most prodominant but there is also some chocolate and a tiny bitter hop bite. the chocolate sweetness adds a nice touch but the balance of the whole flavour profile is what makes this a truely great stout. a really wish i had more of this fantastic brew. thx Mr. Bottoms! miketd (679), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Bottle from the man, the myth, the legend...lb4lb. Thanks dude. Pour is pitch black with a big brown head. Aroma is bitter and tobacco like. Some chocolate. Flavor is roasty with caramel and quite bitter. This brew has that weird tobacco character that is not a good thing. The beer isn’t bad, but not my fave. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA

Sweet chocolate flavor with light roast and backing bitterness. Medium bodied. Nice balance. Lingering dark chocolate, malt, caramel, and light citrus bittering. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 13, 2008 Bottle… This beer rocks!… Pitch black ale with a mid-sized, creamy, beige head. Great retention. Notes of chocolate, espresso, vanilla, toasted nuts, light smoke and ash constitute the rich, mocha aroma. Full-bodied and velvety with moderate carbonation. The perfectly balanced flavor leans on the bitter side at first, but then caramalt and chocolate malt sweetness catches up. Finishes bittersweet and lightly acrid. Excellent, well-made, sturdy stout. Big-time kudos to mgumby10 for sharing this world class brew! mgumby10 (1850), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 10, 2008 Courtesy Ol_Mr_Crow. Pours jet black, with a thick, creamy, well-retained beige head. Smells of chocolate cream, dark malts, and even a bit of smoke in there too. Liked the nose. The flavor has some surprising hoppy characters to it. light roasty malts and chocolate give it some great balance. Definite bitterness in the finish, had some oak and vanilla notes. great palate on this beer. Very tasty and nicely crafted stout. Glouglouburp (2811), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 5, 2008 In short: A excellent smooth but robust chocolaty stout with nice resinous bitterness and tobacco-ish flavour.
How: Bottle, probably around 3 months old. Another kick-ass brew sent by after4ever, thanks a lot Tom.
The look: Black body with a quickly dissipating medium tan head. Good lacing.
In long: Very smooth and round roastiness. Very chocolaty with mainly black chocolate flavour but also a bit of milk chocolate. No coffee flavours and very low on the fruity side, its malt profile is very much focussed on silky chocolate malts. Light banana note and a little vanilla ice-cream. I really like the finish with its assertive bitterness and its tobacco flavour. Amazingly easy to drink I went through the bottle like Kirstie Alley goes through a little shrimps appetizer.
