| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 8, 2007 This beer is why I think Imperial Stouts aren’t always necessary. The flavour was rich and chocolate with a nice bitter coffee touch without all the alcohol found in the impy stouts. Dry finish with a lasting touch of dark chocolate. This is easy to drink and beckons the drinker back for more. Dickinsonbeer (3449), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 29, 2006 Dark brown almost mahogany with a lovelly large l frothy/thick lighter brown head.
bitter dark chocolate type aromas, some alcohol too, slightly spicey. Some hops.
Very nice taste, dak ,bitter yet smooth and chocolaty. Milky, slightly sour, alcohol detectable, some black coffee in the finish.
Nice palate, I believe the oats add to the pleasurable mouthfeel, giving a luxuriant thickness.
Overall a good drinking stout, not the best but good enough. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 27, 2006 Updated: Dec 28, 2006Pours dark brown with a joke of a tan head, gone in thirty seconds. Aroma is excellent: bitter cocoa, hops galore, essence of cardamom, burned toast, peanut butter, caraway. Tastes of old cappucino, the frothy milk flavor everpresent in the entire taste process. I like the taste but this beer is not the least bit quaffable, takes a concerted effort to get every following sip down. I seem to feel this way every time I try this beer, I guess I won’t be trying it again. Full bodied in the fore but a weak, stale and lingering finish that is altogether unpleasant. Pity, I like Dick Cantwell’s books, his brewing style confuses me. jzzbassman (842), New Albany, Mississippi, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 26, 2006 Poured very black with a tight tan head. Aggressive hopping on the nose, which carries over to an acrid coffee like finsh. Mellow middle is rich and malted, a definite study in contrasts. cbkschubert (1966), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
