COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth and sturdy stout, made with 10% rolled oats, roasted barley and chocolate malt. The name is referential to the founders of Thebes, warriors who sprang from the earth when the teeth of a slain dragon were sown by Cadmus. Bittered with Chinook; finished with Cascade and Columbus hops.

Aroma is chocolate malt. Pours deep brown almost black with a good head. Starts smooth with chocolate flavors and finishes dry, and slightly hoppy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ home, picked up at Argonaut Denver. Pours a deep brown/black appearance with a brown head. Licorice, candy, chocolate, somewhat fruity, sweet aroma. Very rich coffee, burnt chocolate malty, in your face piney, herbal hoppy flavor with some nice fruity notes as well. Tasty piney, chocolate aftertaste. Fun beer!

Solid black with a tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is chocolate, liquorice, roasted malts, dates, figs. Medium body, roasty on the palate with a roasted bitter finish. Taste is bitter chocolate, burnt toast, coffee grounds, hint of blackcurrant. This needs either a little less hoppy bitterness or some more backup maltiness to stay in balance.

Very dark pour, foamy, tan/caramel off white head... Borderline 5/5 appearance... but not quite the 5. Nice balanced hop with chocolate roasted malt on the aroma. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, bitter, and overly carbonated. Taste is simple.. watery hops and a bit abrasive.

This stout is great in color, aroma, taste, and palate. With rich flavors in chocolate, oats, with a tiny hint of raisin; this stout delivers well after the sip. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark brown head, has an almost chocolate flavour to it, very pleasant to drink. If rich stouts are your thing then this is a must try. One of the best Imperial Stouts I’ve had, it has a lovely rich, roasted, chocolate palette but is not overwhelming like some Imperial Stouts can be.

(Bottle) Pours black with a creamy brown head. The aroma holds cocoa, chocolate, asphalt, burned cookies, sweaty liquorice, black currant, black berries and oat alongside grassy, citric, woodsy, piny and light fruity hops. The flavour is light sweet, medium bitter and tiny acidic on the finish. Tones of perfect roasted malt and balanced hops alongside undertones dark berry jam and pineapple candy. The mouthfeel is round and silky with a soft carbonation. Smooth roast, juicy dark berries and yummy American hops on the finish. Medium o full bodied.

Superb West Coast stout, courtesy of a locals trade! Chocolate aroma, with chocolate and java notes in the flavor. Nice hoppy/bitter overlayment. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle poured into glass. Thanks to Tony for sharing this one. A lot more hops then I was anticipating. Nice malt character mixed with chocolate and slight cream but the hops were pretty dominate here. A nice switch up from what I’m normally use to for this particular style.
