4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pitch black with a thin brown head. Coffee bitterness, a little roasted, chocolate, some floral hops, alcohol. Very well balanced, sweet then bitter than balanced with a long floral aftertaste. Medium body with a thick texture, lively carbonation.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pouts pitch black with a half finger tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is of coffee, bakers chocolate, malts, sweet malts, caramel, roasted molasses, some floral hops, and some light pine. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma with some charcoal/burnt wood notes in the finish. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a semi bitter, medium-long finish. Overall, tasty, pretty complex oatmeal stout that is pretty happy for the style.

0.5 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
Was one of my favorite stouts. Great flavor and mouth feel. It’s too bad Elysian decided to become a part of AB Inbev. I rate it a .5 for being a sell out.

Pours good and dark with tan head. Fruity nose. Strong citrus flavours that overwhelm the malt

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured black with a thin tan head that faded quickly. Nice roasted aroma with lots of chocolate and oatmeal notes. Some vanilla and nuts too. Taste is very smooth with roasted flavors and oatmeal. Nice chocolate notes. Overall very well balanced. Aftertaste has oatmeal and slightly vanilla flavors. Solid stout, yum.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Poured from a bomber into a tumbler on 01.09.14.
A: Midnight black. Completely opaque. No red at bottom. Has a brown foamy head. Amazing.
S: Malty. Citrus and flowery hops, which is weird. I feel that the smell clashes.
T: Hoppy bitterness, alcohol burn. Some malt, but it is greatly overpowered by the bitterness.
O: This one had loads of bitterness. It was completely unbalanced. The flowery hops really did not go well in a stout. This seemed more like it was trying to be a thick CDA than an oatmeal stout. It was poorly executed. This was a drain pour with no guilt.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
From notes. Tasted in December 2012 from a capped 22oz bottle that I shared with the group. Pours nearly black with an average brown head that recedes fairly quickly to thin, bubbly lace. The nose is big, dark, and roasted, with coffee, dark chocolate, and toasted cocoa nibs. The flavor is nicely bitter with all of the same roasted and toasted notes from the nose. The body is full with average carbonation and a long roasted bitter coffee finish.
