Commercial Description:
A smooth and sturdy stout, made with 10% rolled oats, roasted barley and chocolate malt. The name is referential to the founders of Thebes, warriors who sprang from the earth when the teeth of a slain dragon were sown by Cadmus. Bittered with Chinook; finished with Cascade and Columbus hops.

Bomber. Pours an opaque black with a huge and lacy brown head. Aroma of molasses, coffee and nuts. Full, oily body with minimal carbonation. The first taste is sweet, but the bitterness creeps up on you bit by bit... sort of like my ex. Plenty of flavor with molasses, coffee, chocolate, smoke, vanilla, figs, nuts. Great stuff!

Super dark. When poured it had a really nice super-big chocolate head. Chocolate flavor with some roasted nut hints. Sort of bitter actually; mostly in the end. Milky texture with malt, caramel. More of a bright hoppy nose. Really nice. If it’s on the shelf and you haven’t had check it out. Good value for the price.

A dark black appearance with a beige head. The aroma is roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate. The beer is quite bitter with loads of coffee flavor present. A medium body and a slightly oily mouthfeel. A nice one!

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow & tupalev -- my bottle. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with an average size light-brown head -- nice! Aroma of dark malt, chocolate, some roastiness, yeast and hops -- smells great. Flavour of roasted malt, chocolate, nuts and some coffee with a nice dry bitterness in the finish -- wow! Medium to full bodied, creamy mouthfeel. This is a fantastic Stout!

Bottle shared with GregClow, Hogtown Harry, and Blankboy, courtesy of Blankboy. Lovely roast aroma - rich chocolate. Great pitch black pour, murky dark brown chocolate head. Wonderful taste - so rich - chocolate, light hops in middle, long roast bitter linger at end. Silky thick mouthfeel. Excellent.

Bottle courtesy of Acertain-Thanks Andrew! Pours black, with a frothy mocha head, providing good retention and lace. Aromas are big dark fruit(plum, prune), lots of dark chocolate, raisin, and a surprising amount of hops. FLavour is very hoppy and choclatey, bitter coffee, and tonnes of fruit. Assertive bitterness finishes with a touch of chalk and pleasant astringency. Shit yes bitch, this is good!

Bomber. These guys sure do have the cartoony labels. Pours deep black with a big, surging, moussy, roasted brown/orange head. Some lace but not too awfully much. Fairly neutral nose for the style, though this is a cold specimen--still, not much there beyond a hint of chocolate and roast. Attack is mild, with some velvety fizz but not too much. Neutral palate there that blossoms to roast and chocolate by the mid-palate, which carries through to the finish. The finish lingers a bit with some resiny c-hop. This is a beautifully restrained stout, and probably a wonderful example to start luring people slowly away from the Guinnesses of the world. Nicely done, Mr. Cantwell.
