beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 14, 2006 Pours a pitch black color with a thin light brown head. Good aroma and flavor of roasted malt and chocolate, there is also some hops that are detectable. The mouthfeel is dry. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 4, 2006 Thanks to TheBungyo for the trade. Surprisingly smooth and balanced stout. Neither on sweet nor bitter side, thick mouthfeel and not overally creamy. The little I allowed my office mates to drink they loved, and one hates stouts! A tad oatmeal matter. Very good, black with lots of lace and creamy, obviously quite fresh. And not too roasty either.
blackmurder (164), sadf, Hawaii, USA Jul 26, 2006 A pretty decent stout with a lame label. Pours dark black with a thickish head that quickly fades. Tastes a bit sweet, like caramel, taffy, and uhm, roasted barley.
The aroma is sweet like 8ball stout by lost coast, almost identical really. This is a good one, but the taste isn’t all that original. jimhilt (1664), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Jul 8, 2006 Pours a two finger brown head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Color can’t get any blacker. Light carbonation and heavy bodied. Roasted coffee nose. Starts almost sweet with a roasted coffee/chocolate flavor, smooth, finish has hints of burnt coffee. Nice stout. $3.49 for a 22oz bottle from John’s Market Place Tigard, Or. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 6, 2006 Pour is black with a dense beautiful brown head...smell is deliciously roasty with nice hoppy coffee flavor and somew cocoa too...taste is sweet at first, with some nice roasty cocoa and coffe flavors...sticky overly sweet finish... Tmoney99 (4663), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 5, 2006 Bottle. Black color with an average frothy brown head that diminished slowly with good lacing. Moderate roasted coffee and dark chocolate aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium burnt coffee flavor with a medium dark chocolate bitter finish of average duration. Good start, soft finish. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA Jul 4, 2006 Bottle poured black with a huge, thick and creamy chocolate head.
Light roasted coffee and chocolate aroma.
Body is light and almost a bit watery. Chocolate, coffee and roasty flavor and finish. Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jul 4, 2006 Bottle: The mixture of alcohol and malt gave this one a barnyard aroma. Black body with good tan head and quailty lacing. Medium body flavor at first of mild sweet roasted malt.Towards the middle and finish a good creamy texture on the body comes through and little richness. Sweet roasted palate decent brew.
