keepersj12 (774), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA Mar 29, 2009 This was really good. The aroma jumps at you when you open it. Very dark almost black with a tan head. Flavor of chocolate and coffee followed by a citrus taste. Nicely balanced. Well done. njbfr (105), New Jersey, USA Mar 25, 2009 Black with a gorgeous, thick, brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, soy and chocolate. Awesome flavor! Roasted bitterness is balanced very well with the malty sweetness that is found throughout. Very drinkable and the alcohol is masked well. Finish could be a little more bitter in my opinion but very, very good otherwise. chimplechamp (463), Oslo, Norway Mar 25, 2009 on tap at the memphis taprooms. nose is big hops grapefruit, pine, crazy amounts. dark chocolates, mouthfeel is really thick. in a milkshake in a weird way. great mouthfeel. roasted coffee is a leading taste, along with bittering grapefruit rind. it is a great beer, douglas88 (1557), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Mar 22, 2009 Bomber big thanks to BrewDad. I love Foreign Stouts! Pours a dark black color with a thick light brown head. The aroma is excellent; sweet and rich malts, chocolates, fruity and sweet. The flavor is also top notch; roasted malts, milk chocolates, fruit, some cherries perhaps and a rich caramel addition. Very decedent and rich. An excellent creamy mouthfeel also. Awesome. A light bitter hop in the finish. HopheadHans (753), Bay Area, California, USA Mar 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours with a dark color and a nice head with good lacing. Very nice aromas of chocolate and coffee in addition to some nice roaste notes. Very nice body, not too heavy but not too thin. Very creamy mouthfeel with chocolate flavors and some hops backbone. Grows great with food. tomthompson89 (1459), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 24, 2009 dark dark pour, nice tan foam. nose is sweet with good hoppy resin in behind, coffee and choc. flavor is roasted coffee and choc really really nice thick beer. well done would love a few more of these fine beers Bradrcr (778), Renton, Washington, USA Feb 22, 2009 1/14/09 From the bottle. Aroma is rich roast malt forward, bittersweet, and slightly sour. Appearance is very dark with a well maintained tan head. Flavor is sweet-sour malt forward with a low roast background. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a low carb texture. Overall, big and complex, a lot to savor, but not too easy drinking. nbutler11 (729), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Feb 21, 2009 Bottle brought back from WA. Pours a viscous black color with a trim brown head. Smells faintly of dark cherries. Balanced in flavor, with added notes of dark cocoa, barley, and roasted malts. Far too subdued.
