3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Genny (8) - Washington, USA - JUL 6, 2011With an initial aroma of chocolate, this stout pours a solid dark, with a thick and moderate tan head. The beer tastes of dark chocolate, a taste that lasts throughout; aftertaste is malty and chocolate. Everything about this stout was above my expectations, I would recommend this one.

On tap at a hotel in Seattle. Good drinkable stout that has good balance with the hops and a strong oaty and cocoa finish.

Moderately thick snifter pour. Very thick beige head that hangs around. Amazing smell (or maybe I'm just drunk). Smooth delicious taste and mouthfeel; malts and hint if coffee. Pleasantly surprised

Sew the dragonstooth. Had to get this in an ode to Beta. Pours black. Aroma of chocolate maltiness. Tastes super rich and roasty. Almost smoked. Slightly bitter with all the hops.

Poured from bottle into glass. Black pour with an off white, brown gray head. Lots of lacing. Smells coffee, chocolate, hops up front also. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee up front. Hops contribute more bitterness. Not too heavy, medium carbonation.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 AZBennett (74) - Chandler, Arizona, USA - APR 25, 2013
Pours a dark coffee brown in the glass with a tan head that fades nicely leaving zero lacing. Aromas of chocolate, malt, slight coffee and some cola notes. This really needs to be tasted close to room temperature, as it has a huge bitter background when it is chilled and that flavor detracts from the goodness in this beer. Very nice chocolate and malty goodness, predominant alcohol flavor that adds to the complexity and a smooth, silky finish. The palate is just a hair shy of perfect for this style and coats the tongue nicely with a slick, heavy feeling. Overall, a good example of the style, many times oatmeal stouts can taste metallic or chemically so this was a nice surprise from quite a few of these I have had recently.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 illidurit (1629) - Santa Cruz, California, USA - APR 7, 2013
Deep brown, almost black, with a massive khaki fluffpile floating atop. Aroma is somewhat faint, emerging more with warmth, mainly vanilla-sweetened coffee. Strong dark chocolate character with a bitter roast coffee bite. Great balance between the sweet and the dry/bitter, very full of flavor and silky on the palate. Maybe not "imperial" in heft but I don’t care. This is very nice.

Black in color large dark tan head. Aroma is sweet, hoppy and toasty malts. A very hoppy a very tasty beer that I could drink all the time. The combination of citrus, pine and chocolate all rolled up in one beer is great.

3/24/13. 22oz bottle thanks to bitbucket LOL. Black pour with a nice brown head that cuts in half but lasts and laces well. Light roast and cream in the aroma with a coffee bite and a touch of acidity. Way bigger, bitter roast on the flavor with lingering dryness and dark chocolate with a touch of cream. Surprisingly light body and easy drinking for the %. The alcohol is hidden well. Nice!

The beer is near black with a thick beige collar. The aroma is perhaps a bit weak, but what’s there is nice. Roast and chocolate with a healthy grain presence. Thick, robust body with warming alcohol in the finish. A nice beer to share at a tasting, or savor over the course of an evening.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ron (1985) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAR 16, 2013
Bottle. Black in the glass with a brown head that lasted and lace. The aroma is sweet matly with notes of roasted malt and light notes of coffee, and creamy chocolate. The flavor is sweet malty and very roasted combined with notes of chocolate, creamer, faint tones of coffee, leading to a dry roasted, bitter, and burnt finish. The texture was a little oily. Good stuff. Had last night while watching Syr beat Georgetown the last time they played in the Big East. On to the finals.
