COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth and sturdy stout, made with 10% rolled oats, roasted barley and chocolate malt. The name is referential to the founders of Thebes, warriors who sprang from the earth when the teeth of a slain dragon were sown by Cadmus. Bittered with Chinook; finished with Cascade and Columbus hops.

With an initial aroma of chocolate, this stout pours a solid dark, with a thick and moderate tan head. The beer tastes of dark chocolate, a taste that lasts throughout; aftertaste is malty and chocolate. Everything about this stout was above my expectations, I would recommend this one.

Black anise aroma that permiated throught he aroma. Very pleaseant. This brew was black and coffe flavor along with a very slight sambuca flavor floating around that I really love. This beer was complex and real enjoyable.

On tap @ Elysian Capitol Hill. Black pour with a tan head. A lot of roasted malt and some ash. A bit of licorice and roasted nuts. Slightly floral, leafy hop aromas. Flavors of dark chocolate and roasted malt up front. A decent licorice candy and a bit of ashy bitterness. Some roasted nuts. Hints of cocoa powder. As with the nose, a nice leafy hop character.

Draft at Khyber Pass. Opaque brown pour with a foamy tan ring. Equal parts chocolate, coffee, liquorice and smoke. Fairly earthy. Tobacco. Truffles. Burnt chocolate. Medium body with a silky sweet finish. There is a nice spicy brightness here that not present in most stouts but ultimately things fall flat for me in comparing it to the so many better stouts this beer is trying to be.

Bottle thanks to my wife! Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges slowly. Aroma has a good amount of roasted malts with some dark grains, a touch of pine and a bit of dryness. Flavor has a creamy dark grain note with some roasted malts and a bit of pine dryness towards the finish.
