COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth and sturdy stout, made with 10% rolled oats, roasted barley and chocolate malt. The name is referential to the founders of Thebes, warriors who sprang from the earth when the teeth of a slain dragon were sown by Cadmus. Bittered with Chinook; finished with Cascade and Columbus hops.

Elysian does it again. Thick and dark, like if Guinness were good in looks and taste. Like fruity oatmeal.

Pours a deep, dark, rich brown, almost black. Creamy and foamy beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, toast, nuts, with floral and resin notes. Taste is rich, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and a hint of pine. Finishes bitter, but doesn’t linger. Full bodied, thick, slightly creamy, with soft carbonation. Wonderful after a long day out in the cold.

650ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a small beige head, which lasts reasonably well and leaves a little lacing. Bittersweet cocoa, herbal notes and Turkish coffee make up the aroma. Herbal, slightly sappy hops up front give way to bittersweet cocoa and espresso in the mid-palate, with a savoury, almost meaty feel to the finish. A nice stout.

Bomber. Pours almost black with a very rubbery black dildo appearance. Aromas of used gag balls and butt plugs. Astroglide. Floral hops and the promise of NKVD interrogation techniques. God you are fucked.

Purchased as part of a sampler at Tap house grill. Very dark brown pour with a creamy light brown head. Very smooth on the first sip. It slowly gets bitter if left on the tongue for a few seconds

650 mL bottle supplied by WillRunForBeer - many thanks! To oversized, it pours a brown-tinted black with which a beige head half a finger in length in length stood. Aromas of bong water, roasted cashews, black licorice candies, maple sugar, black patent, young oak, soot, and mugwort/medieval herbs. Tastes the same with the addition of piney hops, charcoal, cabbage, and cocoa powder. Chewy, flavorful, and rambunctious. A nice sipper.

Big shout out to WillRunForbeer for sharing this with the group. Black color with very thin head in the tulip. Aroma is burnt barely, anise and a strong aroma of pine and earth hops.

Nice amount of lingering pine and earthy hops throughout. The earthiness transfers into dark chocolate, and burnt cane sugar. The body is slightly thinner for an imperial is the only negative. I really enjoy the earthy character combined with hops. Nice hop profile.

Bottle shared at my place. From trade with michaelinwa, thanks Mike! Pours nearly black with a beige head. Aroma is pine, chocolate, coffee, char. Taste is chocolaty backbone with a bit of smoke and plenty of pine hop. Nice!

22 ounce bottle. Pours an opaque black with a large rocky tan head. Rich roasted malt nose with notes of dark roast coffee and light charred wood. Smooth roasted malt flavor has hints of cocoa, smoked almonds and resiny hops. Smooth and creamy with a wonderful balance of complex malt and hops. A nice mix of sweet and dry stout styles. The richness and smoothness of this stout is undoubtably enhanced by the rolled oats. I put this right up there with Ale Smith’s Speedway Stout as one of America’s best. A must try.
