3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Almost black. Nice head. Good lace. Roast aroma with a hint of coffee. A little bitter tasting. Not bad at all. Finished somewhat dry. Clean and crisp. Doesn’t overpower you with alcohol taste. Also more carbonation than usual in a stout. Almost porter like. I’ll drink this again.

On tap. Dark pour with ruby highlights. Boozy aroma of chocolate syrup. It was surprisingly good. Chocolate, milky (but no lactic flavors) and plenty roasty. Yes, it was a little boost and the chocolate tasted a bit like Hershey’s syrup. Still, I liked it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap in a shaker showing pitch black with sparse spots of clean white foam.
Lively foam balanced with strong tart coffee notes on the nose.
Very light bodied for a stout. Very strong tart coffee notes. Moderate bitterness on the finish but stretches on for a while. Slightly too light and lacking weight for a stout. The bitterness is also more of an intense burnt flavor rather than an elegant coffee/espresso bitterness. Feels like they roasted the malts a little bit too much, added a bit too much water, and let it ferment a little too tightly (increasing the carbonation). Just my two cents but as a light bodied stout, it’s alright.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours an amazingly dark brown with a nice with head. Head retention is ok. Aromas (at a bbq so might be off) chocolate, pepper, caramel, slight coffee and hints of vanilla. Flavors of chocolate, malty, alcohol, pepper, slight hop bitterness, coffee, vanilla extract and slight smoke. Feel in the mouth is a bit watery but nonetheless a great beer. I will definitely grab another some other day an do my review at home away from this bbq.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma is clove, roasty malts, caramel, cream and nutmeg. Taste is a deep rich malt profile full of flavor and accompanied by a subtle creaminess. Very well balanced and complex hop profile. An earthiness, pinecone, lemongrass and citrus. Fades fabulously. Appearance is a black body with a medium light brown head that is creamy and retains very well.
