Cloudy aber-brown with a big rich head. The aroma is kind of faint - vaguely nutty, earthy malts. Lots of dark fruit, some toasty notes, moderate hops. Finishes with almost a blackberry fruitiness. As it warms, some gooseberry comes out as well.

Draft @ brewpub. Dark red-brown. Superb lacing. Blackberry in aroma and crusty brown bread. The flavors have more dark raisin like flame raisin and also the blackberry. Interesting flavors! Here the alcohol is well disguised. Very nice.

Smooth nice mouthfeel, creamy body, decent balance. A nice winter ale.

Draft at the pike street. Pours a fully opaque dark brown with a dense and creamy tan head that sticks around for a while. Nice robust malty nose showing brown bread, iced tea, and black pepper, in a surprisingly effective combination thats considerably more than the sum of its parts. Creamy medium body with restrained carb, showing again the brown bread, now with caramel, black pepper again, and a more prominent burst of iced tea there in the finish. Nice big winter warmer.
