Thanks to my soon to be excoworker anggrec for this one. Nice English style with a malty sweet aroma with caramel, grass and bread. The flavor starts that way and then the hops come in. Peppery dry with pine and citrus and a bit of fruit. Another winner from Elysian.

No bottling information, but first to rate!
Appearance: The body is a cloudy iced tea color with no visibility even through to the center. The light tan head is sizable, not very tall, but not thin, becoming a mess as it dissipates into a spotty coating with lots of lacing.
Aroma: The aroma is very fruity and leans a bit sweet, oranges dominate with a tropical aroma underlying of pineapple. The aroma hints at a slight bitterness, but overall seems mellow.
Taste: Hop bitterness greets the tongue right away providing a moderately bitter base of grapefruit. Some malts balance out the hops nicely with some tropical overtones of pineapple. The bitterness outpaces the malts by a little, but it’s very drinkable, very enjoyable. One of the better IPAs I’ve had in a while.
Palate: Medium bodied, slightly oily texture with moderate carbonation.
Overall: This is a really good IPA. I like the amount of bitterness and the slightly tropical vibe works well here. I don’t know if I would buy this again, but I think it is worth trying.

Bottle from Spirits Lacey. Pours a nice slightly cloudy reddish/amber color with a small somewhat tan head. Aroma is of sweet guava, passion fruit hops, light strawberry, some sweet malty notes and light acidic bitterness. Taste is complex with some really nice NS hop notes coming through, sweet fruity bitterness, tropical fruits, light mango, passion fruit, some lingering sweet malt notes and a mild, not too drying bitterness on the finish.

On tap. Huge fan of the Nelson Sauvin hop so was excited to try this. Golden amber body with some fluffy head. Nose of tropical fruit (lots of mango), pineapple, caramel malt. Flavor is tropical fruit forward as well with lots of bitterness.

(Bottle) Pours dark reddish amber with a sand coloured head. The aroma is way too malty with notes of caramel, honey, toffee, almond paste and cookies. Undertones of passion fruit, pineapple, apples, canned fruits grass, citrus, gun powder and Swedish snus. The flavour light sweet, medium to heavily bitter and tiny acidic with muddy/sticky malt and resinous/woodsy/citric hops. The mouthfeel is light sticky, light numbing and light astringent with a soft carbonation. Nettles, resin, grapfruit and robust malt on the finish. Medium bodied.

jcos (1525) - Maryland, USA - DEC 16, 2012
Location/Date:Beer split with Dave on December 14th, 2012.

Appearance: Pours copper.
  Aroma: Aroma of grapefruit.
  Taste: Medium bitterness, caramel.
    Palate:Medium body lingering aftertaste.

Summary: Done with first 1000 ratings, onto the next. A solid IPA, I’m guessing it wasn’t the freshest so the amount of bitterness and pine was decreased. But solid nonetheless.

March 16, 2012 - on draught at Cole’s. Slightly hazy amber-gold with a decent creamy off-white head, nice lacing. Smells fantastic - catty, no sweetness, only a bit of alcohol - really smells like fresh cut marijuana buds - pungent and sticky (8+). Taste follows, but it is a bit sweet, gluten-y grain more than sticky ick - a bit more alcohol presence too, but the aroma kicks the flavour’s butt. Average body, decent carbonation, quite astringent and a long pungent catty finish - really grabs the palate.

Bomber @ OT. Pours clear pale amber with a creamy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving some sticky lacing on the glass. Smell is slightly sweet, slightly malty and slightly hoppy with white bread, caramel, green grapes, moist grass, white grapes, red currants and hints of vanilla fudge and alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, tiny fruity and herbal with bread, moist grass, white grapes, lemon balm, wood, gooseberries, moist wood, unripe mango and hints of caramel, wet leaves and pine. Mouthfeel is smooth, round and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter and herbal with moist grass, wood, pine, green grapes, gooseberries and lemon balm. Possibly a bit unfresh but still holds up well.

22oz bottle, thanks to parents. Poured in snifter. Interesting hop flavor - resin, tropical fruit, orange, pineapple. Seemingly big malt present, but it works well with the hops. and is less caramelish than usual - maybe bready, some pepperiness. Some grapefruit in the aftertaste. Super smooth carbonation. More dry texture. Very easy to drink, great to wash a sandwich down with. Medium body, totally hazy amber color. Off-white khaki head that leaves great lace all around. Great bigger bitter taste, little sweetness in the finish. Very enjoyable, interesting, and sessionable single-hop IPA. My first showcase of the NZ Nelson Sauvin. Love getting educated.

(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 23 Sep 2012) Reddish amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with red fruit, citrus, blood orange and caramel. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, orange peel, blood orange, red fruit and a generous resiny bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and solid IPA with a fresh hop profile.Very nice.
