Probably the most "refined " beer that I have had over the past two years. This is the real deal, the final product Very refined. You would think that they have been brewing this for centuries. Passion fruit in an IPA? Brilliant! Only New Zealand hops? Home run! At the end of 2012, this might be the best beer that I have had all year.

22 oz bottle. Hazy orange/amber with a thick, dense off white head that leaves lots of lacing. Aroma is all Nelson, lots of grape juice and light tropical fruit, there is also a bit of sweet bubble gum in the scent. Flavor is firmly bitter upfront with a mild caramel malt sweetness for balance. Medium body with average carbonation and a dryish mouth feel. This is a very nice IPA that showcases the Nelson hop, really like this one.

Pours amber orange copper in color somewhat clear with a decent off white head. The flavor of the Nelson Sauvin hops come in a little more subtle than I would like, probably because it is a few months old. It is still somewhat unique as usual for those Nelson hops, in a good lightly bitter hoppy way. The aroma seems to have gotten last a bit as well, but I get some nice unique tropical fruitiness and a hint of bitterness, both from the hops.

650ml bottle. It pours a deep amber with a foamy off-white head. The smell has a good bit of toasted grain, a nice change of pace in an IPA. It melds with some mangotomatomeloney scents. The flavor is nicely hoppy. Tropical goodness. Some resiny pine and citrus rind on the back end. The malt isn’t too sweet and provides some backbone. This beer tastes freaking amazing, good one.

650 ml bottle. Pours a copper orange with medium head which dissipates but leaves heavy lacing. Aromas of grapefruit and pitted fruit. Very fruity taste, citrus, yep passionfruit, and peach. Light bitter finish. A very good beer.

Thanks to curly for the trade! Cloudy orange, loose white head. Smells - no kidding - like grapefruit juice. Clean, crisp citrus flavors, with some piney, resiny flavors as it warms. Just enough malt flavors to keep it interesting. Very good stuff

Real nice ipa. A nice subtle pine aroma. Has a nice crisp body, good solid pine ipa taste that lingers on the tongue, good stuff

Muddy amber color, with creamy small head. Very nice aroma, sweet and fruity; apricot and oranges; some malt. Good toffee flavor, sweetish, with huge hopping; fruity and resiny, piney; lots of bitter oranges and some grapefruit; but also a bit yeasty and just overly bitter, which means the final is then quite harsh. Fresh.

Bottle. Split with and courtesy of Vinnie. Pours a clear reddish orange with specks of hop sediment suspended throughout and a fat, foamy, sudsy off-white head. The aroma is so, so cheesy, oniony, and grassy with a bunch of melon, passionfruit, and ripe orange. The flavor is very odd, but good: soft notes of cheddar cheese up front with a bunch of onion, soft hop resin, and some subtly bitter orange flavors as it finishes. The palate is so, so, so smooth and soft and the carbonation is present enough to allow the beer to stand on its own two legs, but minimal enough that the beer nearly evaporates on one’s tongue. Really cool, different IPA.
