On tap @ Harry’s Hofbrau. Hazed copper beer with a thin white head. Has a lot of whiskey, caramel, and brown sugar. Big time barrel character. Some vanilla, orange creamsicle, and wood. It’s just quite sweet for the most part. Maybe a little bit of chalky and bitter oak and char. It’s not great for my tastes.

On tap at bier thirty. Pours out a orangeish golden topped with a small white head. Nose is sweet malts oak barrel whiskey and a pineapple kick. Taste is as the nose with a nice hop malt combo with the whiskey barrel notes helping it out.

On tap @ Chuck’s 85th. Pours hazy orange copper with very thin white head. Aroma sweet thick oaky bourbon and caramel. Taste is medium caramel malt, strong boozy whiskey mid palate, then dank bitter resiny hops on the finish. Lingers bitter and oaky. I always felt like Bifröst was a bit too light malted for a winter ale, this adds a really pleasant dimension.

Draft at Big Wood 2009. Deep hazy honey pour. Bright bubbly white head. Honey, hazy malts. Sticky, indifferent, touch of whiskey. Mostly bright malts.

Draft at Bigwood 09. Orange golden with nice tight head and lacing. Oaky orange with some slightly dank hop smell. Small wheaty grain feel wit a balnced malt and orange citrus flavor. The JD is super mutted, but I think this is a good thing.

draft at bigwood. pours a cloudy toffeeish medium amber. dense, creamy offwhite head that falls away quickly. dense sheets of lace. oranges, cream, and pine on the nose, along with hints of bourbon. creamy medium body, active carb. oranges, pine, and sweet cream on the mid palate. mild sweet pine finish.

on tap at Fields for SBW. Clean orange with a large and dense head. slightly spicey aroma with a pleasant taste just touching on a slight woodiness.

Pours a light caramel with lots of lacing. Smells of malt, honey, spice and a bit of whiskey. Flavors are fairly balanced, with a peppery, spicy, bitter balanced by a citrus hop taste with a slight vanilla finish.

At 21A, pours medium golden copper with a full. foamy off white head. The nose is dry and hop filled with vanilla and oak. The flavors work together quite well, with the sweetness from the whisky and vanilla being balanced out by the hop slight bitterness and dryness.

draft @ bigwood fest - cloudy amber with big tan head; obvious and thick whiskey aromas combined with more subtle malt and sugar mix; considerably more texture in this aged version as the flavors become creamy leading to a smooth finish with just a slight bite of alcohol; very nice
