Sampled during VCBW 2013 at the River Rock Casino Resort pouring a pale golden color with a small white head that leaves some thin lacing on the glass. Light aroma of grains with hints of citrus and yeast. Taste is a lemon sourness with a light sweet malty body. Light to medium bodied with light carbonation. An interesting take on the style and quite tasty.

Nice dark yellow colour with a pale head. Aroma is bread, mandarin, clover honey. Nice mild sourness on the palate with a balancing sweet wheat character. Taste is wheat, orange marmalade, honey. Very drinkable.

Very solid sour beer flavor, tart and puckering. Saffron adds a nice dry quality to balance the lightly sweet malt notes, also a wonderful aroma of grass/hay.

Clear amber color/ lasting white head. Nice barnyard dung, cinnamon, cherry, caramel aromas. medium bodied. Bretty barnyard piss and dung flavors with spicy cinnamon, dusty earthy pale malts. Lightly sour like a Berliner wheat. very good

Draft at Brouwers Sour Ale Fest 10’. Pours golden like honey. Nose is sweet honey, caramel malt, lemon, and hints of sour and wheat. The taste was honey, lemon, and some sour. This is disappointing.

draft at brouwers sourfest. pours a clear medium amber with gold overtones and loose white head. mild sour wheat nose. creamy medium body with tons of wooly carb. mild wheat sour. not much else. no flaws...but not really sure where to find the saffron.

Avery Sour Ale Fest. Not exactly sour or funky, but pretty interesting. Plenty of lemon citrus going through it. The flavor profile was more interesting than exactly good, but still kinda dug it. Would try it again. Seems more like a straight Belgian than a sour.

potbeerjob (1343) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 3, 2010
Draught from Avery’s inaugural Boulder Sour Ale Fest (amazing). Aroma is citrus sour, wood richness, odd wheatyness, and flowers over top. Flavor is grass, sweet syrup, acidic and citrus (only lightly sour), and dirt. Some good points...some bad points.

Oakes (10941) - Savusavu, FIJI ISLANDS - MAR 3, 2010
Bright golden colour. Floral aroma with a light woody tartness. Light tartness on the palate. Quite refreshing, with floral accents. Easy-going example of an American sour. It is not puckering, just lightly tart. It is nice to see the sour concept used for such a low-key session beer, actually. It finishes sweetish with only a light lactic tartness.
