light gold body, thin white ring of a head. sour corn syrup and moldy honey in the nose. surprisingly sweet approach; honey, sweaty grass, a little peat, some soured and stale rye. very light acidity. thin body. disappointing.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 waltersrj (278) - Washington, USA - MAY 21, 2010
Draft at Brouwers Sour Ale Fest 10’. Pours golden like honey. Nose is sweet honey, caramel malt, lemon, and hints of sour and wheat. The taste was honey, lemon, and some sour. This is disappointing.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 after4ever (4500) - Brier, Washington, USA - MAY 20, 2010
draft at brouwers sourfest. pours a clear medium amber with gold overtones and loose white head. mild sour wheat nose. creamy medium body with tons of wooly carb. mild wheat sour. not much else. no flaws...but not really sure where to find the saffron.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 That1Guy (1516) - Lyons, Colorado, USA - MAR 9, 2010
Avery Sour Ale Fest. Not exactly sour or funky, but pretty interesting. Plenty of lemon citrus going through it. The flavor profile was more interesting than exactly good, but still kinda dug it. Would try it again. Seems more like a straight Belgian than a sour.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 potbeercollege (1329) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 3, 2010
Draught from Avery’s inaugural Boulder Sour Ale Fest (amazing). Aroma is citrus sour, wood richness, odd wheatyness, and flowers over top. Flavor is grass, sweet syrup, acidic and citrus (only lightly sour), and dirt. Some good points...some bad points.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Oakes (10196) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 3, 2010
Bright golden colour. Floral aroma with a light woody tartness. Light tartness on the palate. Quite refreshing, with floral accents. Easy-going example of an American sour. It is not puckering, just lightly tart. It is nice to see the sour concept used for such a low-key session beer, actually. It finishes sweetish with only a light lactic tartness.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 bb (4887) - Alamo, California, USA - MAR 2, 2010
Draft. Heard this beer was a special blend to bring to San Francisco Beer Week, but don’t really know. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Light earthy, light tart aroma. Tart flavor with light wheat and light earth. Medium bodied. Tartness lingers with light wheat and light earth.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 kmweaver (3045) - Santa Rosa, California, USA - FEB 12, 2010
Draft @ City Beer’s My Sour Valentine event during SF Beer Week. Pours a pulpy, yellow-golden color; off-white head with attractive, fine-bubbled lacing, very tiny bubbles. There’s a basic, lightly husky wheat character in the aroma: very lightly tart citrus, creamy floral notes. Medium body: creamy presence in the mouth; lightly tart lemon and wheat character; a smooth, (again) creamy floral note that I’d never be able to identify as saffron; a mildly tart, quite drinkable wheat concoction. It would be interesting to see how the tartness of this develops over time, as this seems to be a new release from Elysian. Medium finish of toasty wheat; finishes like a good American wheat: flawless, balanced, crisp.
