Vacation 2011 - Seattle and Olympic National Park
8/19/2011: Elysian Menís Room Original Red ("Amber in color with a light hop aroma and toasty malt finish.")... Aroma: Sugary citrus, weak dried pineapple, fruit leather. Appearance: Not really red - more like pale amber or burnt ochre; frothy ivory crown; cloudy complexion. Flavor: Tofee maltiness; toasty like bread crust in the middle; earthy hops with citrus undertones; finishes clightly dry, crisp. Palate: Medium-light to medium body; smooth. Overall: Quite enjoyable for an amber/red ale; sessionable, well-balanced (maybe a bit more hops would be nice), refreshing, but thereís just not enough to there keep it interesting...
1 pint, 6 fl. oz. bottle (Alcohol 5.6% by Volume). Rating #139 for this beer.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
A very respectable red, that pours a good color not quite copper, creamy with a little bit of hop bite, I didnít prefer the profile myself.

A nice red. Pours a great amber color with a thick white head. Smells slightly hoppy and creamy. Taste is very creamy, with a sweet start and hoppy finish. Nothing too exciting, but a nice drinkable beer! Had on tap at the brewpub.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Good, but unexceptional red ale. Reddish brown pour. Primary flavor note is spice typical of the style. But the malt backbone is not very well developed. B/B-

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, 22oz. It pours a medium sized white head over a murky orange-golden body. The aroma is on the hoppy side, peaches, canned tropical fruits and pine cones, but with a nice maltyness underneath. Lightly maltysweet flavor, but with enough bitterness to deal with it. Citrus peel, pine cones and a touch of tropical fruits too. A bit low on carbonation I think, feeling almost dead in the mouth. Full to medium body. Lasting bitterness in the end. A quite decent one, but far from impressive. 130702

Poured from tap at the Elysian brewery in Capitol Hill/Seattle. Orange with tons of white head. Bitter for a red. Slight malty and hops. Carmel and light. Good for the style

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a clear amber with tan head. Faint aroma of citrus hops on top of caramel malts. Taste is a bit thin. Light malt sweetness and mild hop bitterness. I have had better red ales and was hoping for more out of this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a nice clear amber color with a slightly off white head that leaves behind rings of lacing. Slight hop aroma but everything else is a bit muted. Taste has the aforementioned hint of hops. Donít get much else. So so beer.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Wow was this one boring. Poured a lighter red color with a beige head. Aroma was caramel, toasted malt, grassy and earthy hops. Flavor was similar, somewhat on the sweeter side, but not overly so. Just a really bland and boring red ale.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle at Akkurat, April 2013.
Clear copper with a medium, thick white head. Aroma and taste of toffee, dried fruit, some orange, syrup and notes of cardboard. Drinkable but I guess that the bottle was a bit old.
