UPDATED: FEB 19, 2016 2012 version on draft at BPP. Golden color. Good head retention. Cardboard setting in. Or, more like, already settled. Sweet, old candy, mild old hoppiness aftertaste. Getting too old.

Absolutely stunning. Smooth rich and slightly sweet barley wine with an ever so slight hops edge to the middle, this is strong and wonderful to drink.

Tap@Tangletown. Hazy amber color with lasting ivory sheen. Marshmallow, sweet pit fruit, toffee aromas. Medium body with soft co2. Rich pit fruit, white raison flavors with toasted caramel; warming spicy booziness to finish--good.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft - Sweet malts and red fruit with grapefruit hops in the background. Cloudy amber with a very thick persistent head. Overall on the sweet side, with malts, fruit and bubble gum tasting hops. The alcohol is pretty mild for a barley wine, and honestly this hopped version, although nothing like a typical barley wine, is pretty good.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark crystal amber body, ok head. Nose is cloying with doses of wet shoe amidst the high pitched candi and synthetic fruityness. Overly sweet, again soaked with wet shoe. Lacking balance and arffulness. Not unpalatable, but just a disappointing mes.
