COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
NIBIRU, named for the mysterious planet X supposedly on a collision course toward earth. Nibiru is a Belgian style tripel flavored with an infusion of yerba mate. Combining the yeasty esters of Belgian yeast and the compelling tea-like flavors of the South American herb mixture, with German Northern Brewer, Czech Saaz and American Amarillo hops round out the uniqueness of this first beer of the Apocalypse. Poured from a large bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a thick, hazy straw color with a very large, foamy, off-white head with great retention, but lighter cling and lacing. The aroma featured floral hops and yeast, along with some grainy notes, and of course a modest presence of yerba mate. Its taste was a blend of sour grain and yerba mate with a lighter floral sweetness in the beginning. The yerba mate flavor became more pronounced as the beer developed, and tasted surprisingly similar to the actual herbal drink. It had a very dry body and mouthfeel with a somewhat harsh, dry finish, and had average carbonation and life. Not a bad beer, and worth a try, but yerba mate and beer are not an ideal combination.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours golden/amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of spices and tea, some light spice from the yeast, pale and caramel malts, and light bitterness. Flavor the same with a nice blend of everything. Average texture. A pretty good beer.

Bottle at Aaron’s. Thanks man! Pour is hazy orange with big white head and great lacing. Herbal, tangy, apple skin, doughy, green apples, old cider, pears, and tannic aroma. Taste is medicinal, slightly smoky, biscuit, straw, lightly spicy, tangy, green apples, and old malt with a spicy finish. Medium body with high carbonation. Really weird shit.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of my secret santa. Thanks bro! Pours a cloudy orange appearance with an off white head. Candy, orange zesty, floral, tangy, tangerine fruity aroma. Somewhat tart, banana, tangy orange fruity, fairly sweet flavor. Really didn’t enjoy this one.

Tap at Elysian, Seattle, 27/05/13. Clear light golden with a thin off white head. Nose is rich in caramel, dark fruits, light spice, boozey notes, yeast esters. Taste comprises summer fruits, caramel vein pumping throughout, light yeast notes, sugars, citrus. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light booze notes in a sweetish finish. Ok tripel, the booze and sugar are fairlt well balanced.

pours a fizzy, semi-cloudy orange with a very large white foamy head, and good lacing. smell is of bread yeast, floral, and a touch of citrus. taste is chalky, yeast, some citrus, and a funky taste that i assume is the yerba mate. ends dry yet smooth.
