Draft @ Blind Tiger. Orange pour with some head. Pumpkin, cinnamon, vanilla and other spices notes. Body is a little light for my taste.

22 oz bottle. Hazy orange color with a light head. Plenty of pumpkin and pie spices in the aroma. The spice flavor continues into the taste but is overpowered by a massive amount of gourd flavor. A bit more bitter than I expected too. I was excited for this one but found it ultimately disappointing. I guess I was looking for more pie and less gourd and bitterness.

10th October 2008. GABF. Clear brown beer. Tastes of pumpkin and not just spice which is always a result with this style. The spice is pleasingly subtle. Not bitter or dry.

Pours medium orange-brown, with a medium beige head, very fine and lasting lacing. Strong pumpkin pie aroma, nutmeg, allspice, clove, and pumpkin. Medium-light body, creamy and smooth. More pumpkin pie spice flavors, but only mildly sweet, there’s also a hint of licorice, and some citrus to help keep things balanced. Overall quite nice; strongly spicy, but not overpowering in moderation.

A ruddy color with faint white head. A nice spicy aroma with faint pumpkin. The body has a faint metallic flavor that cuts thorugh what would otherwise be a very pleasant pumpkin body. The spice is mild in the body but intense on the finish.

22 ounce bottle courtesy of RiversideAK. Thanks! Rating #200 for this beer. Yay! Pours a vibrant auburn color with a very, very light haze. Nice aroma of strong pumpkin and a nice bouquet of spices including cinnamon, vanilla, clove. Taste is pumpkin, squash, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, other spices including a peppery note. Well balanced. Medium bodied. Good pumpkin beer.

Bottle (New Belgium version). Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (cookie), with notes of nutmeg, sweet potato, gingerbread, light notes of passion fruit and golden raisin. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Despite being brewed by New Belgium, it’s actually not that bad. Interesting subtleties in the aroma that, while helped (and masked) by simply adding spices and pumpkin, at least seems to avoid the poor malt character that plagues NB these days. I wouldn’t buy it again, but you can do a lot worse in the field of spiced/pumpkin beers.

22 oz bottle from the local grocery. Pours a hazy orange with a small off white head. Aroma is full of spices: cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, with a bit of bready crust smell and some fairly like pumpkin. This beer tastes very similar to pumpkin pie, with those spices being more dominant than the pumpkin aspect itself which makes it probably my favorite of the few pumpkin ales I’ve sampled. Still, this is a style that I don’t really "get", and I guess that’s alright.
