Aroma is nice and pumpkin spiced with prominent nutmeg. That carries into the taste, but the pumpkin is not so prominent. Weird mineral aftertaste, and this needs more body. It’s like mineral water that has been tainted with spices $5/22 0z HopBackDoc (394), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 22, 2008 Poured with an amber color and smelling of pumpkin and spice. The flavor reminded me more of a malty pale ale than a pumpkin ale. The pumpkin just didn’t come through and the spices just gave it a bit of a kick. It was just a decent drinking beer, nothing special. Slipstream (747), USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Sweet, spicy pumpkin pie aroma. Amber pour with tiny head. A light-bodied brew with a mild, sweet pumpkin spice flavor. A touch of skank is present as well. I agree with the other reviewers that the flavor and body does not live up to the promise of the scent. This is my first brew from Elysian, and I was hoping for something better. m4rest88 (216), Beverly Hills, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 18, 2008 Pours with an amber hue with virtually no head. The aroma is of sweet pumpkin pie, nuts, and nutmeg, pie crust, and wood. Some barnyard funk too.
The flavor is strongly of pumpkin, with some mint flavors in it as well.
Feels watery to the palate, and has light carbonation. Praetorian (86), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Oct 15, 2008 Orange in color with a small white head. The aroma is sweet and spicy with notes of pumpkin pie and nutmeg with a hint of leather. The flavor is of pumpkin pie with a minty undertone. The texture was watery. Overall it was good even though the texture was a let down. It’s a weird brew, but it isn’t bad. BMan1113VR (2818), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 14, 2008 Pours with a thickish, off-white head and a clear orange body with good lacing. Aroma of pumking pie, in a sweet scent full of cinnamon and nutmeg. Taste is not as strong or sweet as the aroma. Taste is pumkin, spices, some mint (in the finish, tastes a bit like you have just brushed your teeth). Water like mouthfeel. Light carbonation. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 12, 2008 This poured copper in color with a thin white head that dissipated away. The nose is filled with tons of spice along with gingerbread and pumpkin…everything a good Halloween/Pumpkin Ale shoud have in my opinion. Though the palate is much lighter and watery then the nose suggests. Too bad as it would be much better overall, for me, if it did have more concentration in the mouth. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 12, 2008 Bomber thanks to Brandon! Poured clear, vibrant orange with a short-lived cap of white head and plenty of rising carbonation. The aroma picked up punpkin pie mix with a lot of graham crust and a pale base that should have been masked a little more from the pumpkin. The flavor had bready notes and pumpkin meat at the core with a touch of honey intermittently.. surrounded by ample doses of nutmeg and cinnamon that really built toward the back.. finished dry and spicy, lacking some meaty pumpkin that I would have enjoyed. Light-medium bodied with higher carbonation on the palate.. dry.. more spices than pumpkin. Just OK.
