robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Nov 26, 2008 pours a semi-clear burnt auburn with little to no head, some lacing.
smell of spice, pumpkin, baked crust, just like a pumpkin pie.
taste is of spice, pumpkin, malt, some cinnamon.
overall an okay beer, i really don’t care for the taste of the pumpkin brews that come out in the fall, but this one is better than most.
ceffalo (38), , Texas, USA Nov 20, 2008 A very pleasant aroma of pumpkin and spices (cinnamin and nutmeg) with beer. Pours a deep brown, almost tea like color with a simple carbonated head, which dissipates rapidly. Only a 5.9% abv.
Flavor is very much that of pumpkin and spices, semi-sweet with no bitterness at all. A strong back lash of pumpkin follows. It is not my favorite beer by any stretch, but it is good. A really nice seasonal brew. I recommend this for the holidays. It’s like a subtle pumpkin pie. Enjoyable with an unforgetable flavor. theisti (1640), Leawood, Kansas, USA Oct 31, 2008 22 oz bottle from bvc. Bottle stamped 26DEC08 which I assume is the best before date. Pour is hazed ruby orange, with nice settling and a pretty one inch off white head. Thick splotchy lacing is left behind as the head retreats. Aroma of pumpkin, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon - straight up pumpkin pie. Nice and natural pumpkin pie. Taste reflects the nose, with all the flavors, though the pumpkin and cloves stand out the most. Palate is medium, a bit dry in the finish. There is also a pepper spiciness to the finish which is a little odd, otherwise a really nice pumpkin beer. Thanks for sending this my way Brandon. pineypower (1076), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Oct 30, 2008 Bottle. Pours out a clear moderate hue of amber with a small white head. Nice aroma of pumpkin pie, some cinnamon and ginger. Taste is well balanced, body a bit thinner than expected. Notes of pumpkin pie, cinnamon, ginger some nutmeg and clove also appear in there, well done with nothing overpowering. Funknmilla (577), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 29, 2008 Updated: Jan 5, 2009Draft at Teresa’s next door...a medium golden color (amber)...huge spices on the nose...nutmeg dominated...also cinnamon and clove, with a small off-white head....flavors are very similar to the aroma, but thinner...and the body is slightly watery zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA Oct 28, 2008 (bottle - 22 oz) Clear amber color with a thin and fizzy off-white head. Aroma is light and creamy with good hints of pumpkin, cream, light spice including cinnamon, nutmeg, and some allspice. Flavor is very light on the pumpkin with a good mix of the sweet spices. Pumpkin pie spice and nutmeg come through the strongest with a nice hint of pumpkin seeds at the back and a clean finish. Very nice pumpkin ale. kosko20 (302), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Oct 26, 2008 Thee best pumpkin ale I have yet to try. Pour is a clear amber with a thin off white head. Aroma is pumpkin pie without the crust. Flavor is the same BUT balanced out with hops and not so powerful as in most pumpkin ales. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Oct 26, 2008 Received 22-oz bomber from 5000. Pours a semi-clear amber brew with a thin off-white head that dissipates to a thin white ring and film top. Aroma of pumpkin pie filling with nutmeg, cloves, and roasted nuts. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with flavors of golden grain and caramel malt, lighter pumpkin and spice character and more nutmeg. Finish is smooth, a little on the watery side but still has a mild pumpkin and spice aftertaste that quickly disappears. One of the better pumpkin ales I’ve tried.
