3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from Sparrow, 12/1/13
Aroma: The nose is full of Asian spices (ginger, white pepper, and 5 spice) and, of course, pear
Appearance: It pours a hazed golden color with a small white head and some drippy lace
Flavor: The flavor is heavily spiced like the nose, with some medium fruity sweetness
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a tingly, spicy feel, plus carbonation, and a dry finish
First rating of December might as well be another In a long line of Asian spiced pear flavored beers. Boy is this a played out style. Seriously though, I love the creativity here. What a unique and awesome experiment. As a beer it is good, although it may not be my absolute favorite, but conceptually, I’m a huge fan.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap. Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a thick white head. Aroma of lots of spices (peppery, rye, bitter, ginger, clove) with light fruits and pear. Flavor of spices upfront with flowery perfume and light fruits in the finish. It is heavily spiced, probably more than it is pear-y. I was excited and afraid to try this beer but it is pretty good.

Very mild aroma, much of nothing going on, no pear to be found. Bright carbonation, biscuit flavors, nothing else. Zero pear. Zero spices. Que?

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle. Pours cloudy orange. The aroma its citrus, orange, musty, herbal. The flavor its malty, cardboard, spicy, tannic. This seems oxidized.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at stags head finishing up strangest beer flight. Pours hazy golden with sweetband spicy nose. Tastes of candied pears, white pepper, coriander, floral, and blue cheese. Odd tasting and pretty sweet with artificial flavored finish.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
On draught at 26th Oregon Brewers Festival. Cloudy golden color. Aroma is spicy, with pepper and cooking spice. Taste is spiced ale, but pear is not coming through. Good spiced beer, but wanted some pear also.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Hmm, quite disappointing. There’s spices galore but it’s not a good thing. It’s dry & a touch bitter. Surprised this is considered a fruit beer. Not that good at all!

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Not a bad pear. Pours a very nice golden. Smells like cloves and spices. Taste has some pear, but more bay leaf and some hops to finish. Not bad, but could do better. Had on tap at Oregon Brewers Festival.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at 16 Tons Cafe, Eugene. Pours a slightly cloudy golden, as befits having pear juice. Decent amount off-white head. Aroma citrus hoppiness, pear, grassy notes as well. Body somewhat dull, medium, slightly creamy. Finish surprisingly bitter, long-lasting, sharp, resinous, spicy.
