Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jan 30, 2005 Amber-brown colour. Toffeeish, earthy aroma. Quite chewy with great dark malt flavours. Full body. Enough bitterness to carry the beer but not so much as to obstruct. Quality example of a style seldom done with inspiration. SuzyGreenberg (934), Seattle, Washington, USA Feb 15, 2008 22 oz. bottle - pours clear brown with tan head that quickly fades and leaves some minor lacing; mostly malty aromas with a little sugar and sour; drink smooth and creamy with flavors mainly malt, caramel and a lingering tartness; very tasty TimE (1023), Tokyo, Japan Apr 8, 2007 Deep mahogany color. Sweet malty nose with a touch of apricot and oak. Malty sweet mouth, strawberries, oranges, baked cake notes. Malty rich chocolatey brownies finish. Flavors change quit a bit from nose to finish. Great stuff. beerguy101 (3478), Newark, California, USA Aug 12, 2004 Dark brown color. Small sized beige head. Aroma is caramel, fruity and sweet. Touch of hops as well. A medium to full bodied bock. Malts are fruity and sweet. Touch of hop bitterness. But mostly smooth and sweet malts. Caramel and toast. Nice beer. Very smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Gromit (449), Port Orchard, Washington, USA Mar 28, 2004 This is a very nice Bock. I wish I'd taken better notes. I poured this and then started talking so I'm left with about a 1/2 inch left in the glass, but it's great. I visited the brewery today and picked this up there, I'm kicking myself for not getting more at $2.50 a bomber.
Pours a clear brown. Scent is mainly of caramel, but a hop presence is noted. Taste is caramel with more hops present. It's rather complex. Overall it's really good and one of the best domestic Bocks I've had.
