Dark, beige head, smoke and coffee, but in moderate amounts. A bit of abite in this one, not your run of the mill session stuff. Skyview (4020), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2008 Picked up a 22-oz bomber from Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington. Pours a dark colabrown brew with a thick and fizzy light beige head that slowly dissipates. Aroma of roasted dark malt, some smoked peat, dark chocolate and some flowery hops. Taste has a slight metallic character but still has the flavors of dark malt, chocolate and some peat. Finish has a mild and sweet chocolate and dark malt aftertaste that has a good balance of hop bitterness. OSLO (826), Perth, Australia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 18, 2008 [Bottle, thanks Skyview] Pours dark brown with a decent sized very light tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, smoke, and a little chocolate. The taste is the same with the smokiness and roasted malt coming through most strongly. Medium-thin mouthfeel--could stand to be just a little thicker. A decent porter, but it didn’t overly impress. BDR (2154), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 16, 2008 Poured from a 22 oz. bottle; chocolate brown and lightly transparent. Peat, cinnamon and musty chocolate in a very earthy aroma full of raw, bittered sweetness. Sweet banana and rich roast flavor with a full chocolate cereal malt base; semi sweet chocolate, grahams, some dry grassiness and moss. Soft, creamy chocolate milk palate incorporating a glowing, roasty caramel sweetness in the lasting finish. A very fine example of a porter that isn’t trying to be something overly heavy or dramatic, and pulls through with consistent, calm character. Thanks for sharing, Bob! Very noticable chocolaty malt flavor...the black malts definitely come through. Nice hop aroma, better than average mouth feel. Will buy again and again. killjoy966 (219), Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Fairly strong showing, but simply paled in comparison to the Dragonstooth Stout I tried earlier in the evening. As dark as a black hole, and just as inviting. Lost points for a muddled taste that neither stood out nor disappeared. My girlfriend, an admitted anti-beer drinker, said it was her favorite out of the sampler. Your mileage may vary.
