black body with some dark brown highlights.nice thick and creamy light brown head that fades after a minute or so.wonderful aroma of coffee, dark fruit, chocolate, roasted malts, and cocoa.flavor blends the characteristics of the aroma, along with some smoke, and bitter hops.palte is long lasting and the mouthfeel is pretty full for a porter.this is yet another awsome brew by elysian.

On tap at Elysian, Seattle. Very dark brown, lasting tan head. Very intense dark malts. Lots of espresso coffee. Dry finish. Little bit of liquorice. Hoppy tingly finish. Nice.

Bomber. Aroma: Rich roasted malt flavor with overtones of coffee and cocoa. Appearance: Pours black, but with strong red highlights when held to the light. Head was medium tan, full and foamy. Good retention and nice lacing. Flavor: Coffee and cocoa, with hints of smoke. Some sourness near the finish which brings to mind dried cherries. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Some astringency noticed throughout, but more prominent in the finish. Overall: Not bad, but really lacking anything interesting to make it stand out. Mouthfeel was a little thin.

Bomber. Poured mahogany with a tall cap of toffee head... left some spotty, big-bubbly lacing behind. Rich, deep, and burnt dark chocolate in the nose... along with some lactose sweetness, mild detergent, and a hint of smoke... quite enjoyable overall. Dark chocolate was at the core of the flavor, with some odd sour notes, grainy black malts, and burnt bitterness.. certainly solid, but not overly interesting. Felt like it wanted to be (and might have felt a bit better if it was) thicker on the palate.. graininess across the middle worked alright. Would make a good session porter.

Black with a dark brown edging. Small cap of light tan foam. Thick stringy lace and some bigger spots stick with a slight glare. Mild roast and mild milk chocolate on the nose. Flavors are mild and a tad thin, more so in the front and middle. Tender black malt sweetness is wrapped by mild roast for most of its start. Finish is soild with a decent peak and perk of roasty malt, blackened bread dryness, and some chocolate bitterness to round it off. Feel is well rounded and smooth with a slimming, drying finish of roast, burnt stuff, and chocolate. Perhaps a bit shy of medium with a tender fluffyness in carbonation. A decent enough drinker, pretty sessionable. The flavors, body, and aroma are mildly pleasing enough in this easy going porter to give it just enough interest. Not quite up to par with some the more complexingly bold porters out there, but pretty solid and seemingly well crafted enough for some bomber draining goodness.

tap at the brewpub - Pours dark brown to black with a moderate tan head. The aroma is of malt and coffee. The flavor includes the dark roasted malt, coffee, and a hint of chocolate. A medium body and rather smooth mouthfeel make it easy to drink. It’s not great, but like most of the other Elysian beers I tried, it’s a good example of the style.

Rich roasted malt aroma with hints of mocha and smoke. Great, intensely dark pour with an inviting rocky tan head. Flavors are again roasted malt, brown sugar, molasses, chocolate, coffee, and toffee. Very round/full mouthfeel, sweet, but not cloyingly so. Well done!
