The aroma has a mix of chocolate, burnt malts and some caramel. The mixture creates a very pleasing aromatic experience. The taste begins with caramel and a modest level of burnt malts and then moving toward a rich chocolate note by about midway. As the finish approaches the chocolate blends in seamlessly with the roastiness and burnt malts. Aggy360 (115), Anchorage/ Vista,CA, Alaska, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 21, 2009 The pour is black with a small tan head that fades quick. A nice chocolate malt aroma with some toffee notes. Taste is big; sweet, malty, chocolate, toffee, some vanilla. This is a good medium-full body beer that is creamy, smooth and lightly carbonated. There is light bitterness on the finish. A real nice porter. gracefullypunk (302), Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 17, 2009 Typical porter, but quite drinkable. Coffee and roast caramel in the nose, coffee, chocolate and roasted malt tastes. Not necessarily a standout porter but a solid offering and one I’d have again. danielcurtis81 (886), San Diego, California, USA

Body is moderatly opaque with a small cream brown head. Nose is roasted malts and chocolate. There is also a small coffee hint to it as well. Flavors are a little uninspiring but fine. Roasted malt, a bit of tobacco or smokiness. Not my on my upper end of favorite porters. scrizzz (1266), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 12, 2009 How appropriate. Dark wet ground coffee notes, jet black and a small tan head, looks eerie in my guinness glass. Dense and sticky, intensely roasted with a balanced sweet whipped cream finish. Chewy and satisfying. The pour shows a deep black body with a 1" dark tan head. Aroma is dominated by chocolate but there is some kind of International coffee cream/chocolate/coffee trifecta going on too. Flavor has more chocolate, brown sugar, coffee and vanilla. Very enjoyable beer. btgpdx (9), USA does not count | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 5, 2009 Smells like chocolate but the taste balances that with a good amount of bitterness. the hops overwhelm the richness on the finish which is too bad. A little too bubbly.
