Dark roasty aromas, slightly smokey, chocolate, very rich aroma. Pours dark brown with a very think tan head, that lasts quite awhile. Rich dark flavors, dark fruits, molasses, thick mouthfeel, coffee, chocolate with some vanilla in the flavor.

22oz bottle from EZ LIquors. Seriously what is up with this brewery? This is my 4th beer from them and my 3rd let down, pretty horrible odds so far. Pours an okay looking deep dark brown with an average size foamy light beige head that leaves some bubbly lace on the edges of my Lucifer snifter. Aroma is weak, notes of freeze dried Folgers crytals..slight chocolate..vanilla,,brown bread. Thin body with light to average carbonation and a watery mouthfeel. Flavor is actually even weaker then the aroma with no real raostiness from the malts but a slight chocolate sweetness and some lightly burnt toast thrown in there. Seriously 3 duds out of 4, lets go Elysian do something with the next one I try from you.....please.

Completely black opaque pour. Very thin tan head. Very rich chocolate aroma with a very slighty hint of coffe hidden in there. Flavor is slight chocolate with a hint of coffee at the end. Palate is a little light. The aroma is easily the best part of this beer. I love the aroma.

Black with a dark brown edging. Small cap of light tan foam. Thick stringy lace and some bigger spots stick with a slight glare. Mild roast and mild milk chocolate on the nose. Flavors are mild and a tad thin, more so in the front and middle. Tender black malt sweetness is wrapped by mild roast for most of its start. Finish is soild with a decent peak and perk of roasty malt, blackened bread dryness, and some chocolate bitterness to round it off. Feel is well rounded and smooth with a slimming, drying finish of roast, burnt stuff, and chocolate. Perhaps a bit shy of medium with a tender fluffyness in carbonation. A decent enough drinker, pretty sessionable. The flavors, body, and aroma are mildly pleasing enough in this easy going porter to give it just enough interest. Not quite up to par with some the more complexingly bold porters out there, but pretty solid and seemingly well crafted enough for some bomber draining goodness.

22 oz bomber that I picked up at Sams for 4 bucks. Although I haven’t been super impressed with Elysian, they aren’t bad brews and are at a good price. This one is no different. Pours black in color with a tan head. Chocolate nutty and sweet nose. Chocolate, molasses, some bitterness seeming to become more bitter and darker in flavors (molasses and dark chocolate) as it warms up. Easy to drink and a once again a decent beer.

Deep, dark brown with streaks of red, beneath a rocky, dark tan head. The aroma is full of chocolate, with a light roasted character, sweet caramel, a bit of dark fruit and a bit of residual malt sweetness. The body is full, creamy and smooth, without being too big for the style. The flavor is well balanced with a nice sweet element countered with a light roasted character and slighty bitter hops at the finish. Immensely drinkable and extremely comforting. I wish Elysian was available in Chicago all the time.

great black pour, good sized brownish head. Wonderful dark roasted malt aroma, with a mix of coffee, and a touch of chocolate. flavour is complex. Great rosted malty, smokey flavour. A great coffee finish. A touch of bitterness in the end, a nice smokey coating in my mouth, GREAT porter.

Bottle. Aroma of sweet malt, chocolate. Flavor the same. Where’s the roast? The coffee? Anything interesting? Pretty dull stuff.
