This is just an awesome porter, very heavy stout like build, smooth on the palate with a heavy weight to it. Pours black with a tall tan head. Very roasty chocolate flavor with a dry cocoa and bakers chocolate finish. Good balance with the hops. Just a realy well made beer.

Black with a creamy tan head. Roasted aroma. Flavor of roast and milk chocolate. Creamy, smooth and milky body.

Deep, dark brown with streaks of red, beneath a rocky, dark tan head. The aroma is full of chocolate, with a light roasted character, sweet caramel, a bit of dark fruit and a bit of residual malt sweetness. The body is full, creamy and smooth, without being too big for the style. The flavor is well balanced with a nice sweet element countered with a light roasted character and slighty bitter hops at the finish. Immensely drinkable and extremely comforting. I wish Elysian was available in Chicago all the time.

Bomber courtesy of 5000. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Smells of chocolate, coffee, some dark fruit. Tastes of pepper, some bitter hops, tea and hints sweetness. Well rounded.

I love Porters...and this is one of my favorites. Perfect dark brown medium head. Dark brown, almost black color. Can’t pinpoint the aroma....smells like a good espresso to me. Incredible smokey porter taste. Doesn’t quite follow through with the espresso taste. Surprisingly sweet aftertaste. This is one of the most drinkable and inviting Porters I’ve ever tasted.

One of the finest examples of Porters I have encountered. In fact this one was so good it turned into loving Porters above almost every other beer. The hint of vanilla is what hooks me. Great flavor, but seems easy to ruin based on multiple visits to the brewery. Sometimes the mix can be aweful, but when it is right, there is no better Porter in my world.

Courtesy of sebletitje. Pours deep dark amber with thin white head. The aroma has a mix of chocolate, burnt malts and some caramel. The mixture creates a very pleasing aromatic experience. The taste begins with caramel and a modest level of burnt malts and then moving toward a rich chocolate note by about midway. As the finish approaches the chocolate blends in seamlessly with the roastiness and burnt malts.
