| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 7, 2005 Pours an opaque black color with a frothy brown head. The aroma is rich and aromatic with acidic notes of roasted grain, coffee, espresso, dark chocolate, and burnt plums. The taste is at first smooth, then it becomes a bit sharp as the carbonation hits my tongue. This beer tastes quite dry and the full roasted flavors cause it to drink even drier. This taste has notes of coffee, burnt husks, and lots of roast malt acidity. This beer is quite light on the palate, yet it is packed with all sorts of flavor. This is a simple straight up porter with lots of flavor derivatives from roasted malt, this is quite well made.
I just started to pare this with a French raw milk bleu cheese, and it brings out a sweetness in the beer that was not there before, in fact the beer picks up quite a bit of chocolate notes that where not as apparent before. axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 8, 2005 Pours almost completely black with a stivky tan head. Aroma is sweet coffee. Flavors are coffee, chocolate, some milkiness, and a little citrus. Not a bad porter but something is off balance here. Reminds me of a milk stout starting to go sour. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 30, 2008 Pours a dark brown, with a medium, creamy, light tan head. Smells of light chocolate cream, vanilla, light dark fruits, and caramel malt. The flavor had some dark sweet malt, toasted malts, and caramel cream. Lots of toffee and molasses as well. Pretty sweet in the taste overall. The chocolate really came out in the finish along with some coffee. Not a bad porter. markas101 (597), Fargo, North Dakota, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 27, 2006 tap at the brewpub - Pours dark brown to black with a moderate tan head. The aroma is of malt and coffee. The flavor includes the dark roasted malt, coffee, and a hint of chocolate. A medium body and rather smooth mouthfeel make it easy to drink. It’s not great, but like most of the other Elysian beers I tried, it’s a good example of the style. Capa (995), Yokosuka, Japan
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 15, 2007 Deep brown with a mountainous, fluffy, dark tan head. Dark roasted malts, sweet molasses, cocoa, and some cherry. Body is a little thin, and fairly carbonated. Nice, bitterswet flavor. Roasted malts, coffee, cocoa, citrus, and a little molasses. Quality porter. RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 15, 2006 Bomber. Aroma: Rich roasted malt flavor with overtones of coffee and cocoa. Appearance: Pours black, but with strong red highlights when held to the light. Head was medium tan, full and foamy. Good retention and nice lacing. Flavor: Coffee and cocoa, with hints of smoke. Some sourness near the finish which brings to mind dried cherries. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Some astringency noticed throughout, but more prominent in the finish. Overall: Not bad, but really lacking anything interesting to make it stand out. Mouthfeel was a little thin. cyanescens (159), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 10, 2006 22 oz bottle. Very rich, very sweet. A mediocre porter, nothing jumps out at me. Bu I can tell a lot of ingredients were put into it, thick and dark, a good by for 3 bucks.
