On tap at the source in Seattle-USA. Coffee like pour cloudy, brownish cap adhesive. Nose: hint of cocoa powder, Tiramisú. Mouth: coffee powder, watery, a bit tart, flat. Boring but not that bad. Limbo.

Dark brown to black color, teal head. Roasted, sweet taste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness. Roasted scent. Sweet aftertaste.

4 oz pour from tap into a cylindrical tasting glass at the brewery in Seattle. Black and opaque with a moderate head. Dry dark malts on the nose. A little earthy. Medium body. Dry. Taste is a step up from a typical English porter. Dry with a little smoke and a little chocolate. Flavorful, but nothing too obtrusive. Something I could drink a few of without much of a problem. The centennial add a nice bitterness, though I’m not getting much of their fruitiness. Probably intentional considering the style, but I still miss it a little.

On tap at The Ginger Man, New York, NY. A dark brown coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Roasty, malty, coffee aroma. Tastes simiar, roasty, malty, slight coffee, rather thin porter but alright.

Tap at brewery bar. Pours dark brown with light tan head. Light coffee, light treacle aroma with a little choc. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Choc, coffee, toffee, a light lemon. It’s fine.

On tap @ Elysian Capitol Hill. Black pour with a thick khaki head. Smells of coffee grounds, roasted malt, and a lot of earthy hops. Sort of ashy. Decent cocoa powder aroma. Flavor is a bit acidic and ashy. Some dust. Roasted malt, cocoa powder, and coffee grounds. Really earthy and kind of bitter.

Drought. Very dark brown with creamy tan head, caramel aroma, low carbonation, bitter coffee beans taste, thin body, medium finish with bitter aftertaste. A good porter.

A smoky porter right here! Tastes like toasted marshmallows by a fire pit with a dark coffee in hand. Strong smell of coffee beans, malt, smoke, bbq, bubble gum, little bit of chocolate. Medium body disappears quickly. Pretty dry. Is that what the wine comparison is for?

On tap at St. Augustine’s, pours an amber-tinged black with a medium tan head. Aroma reveals cocoa powder upfront, a milky quality, and maybe a hint of roast. Flavour follows accordingly, with a milky palate - dry cocoa powder dominates the flavour. Smooth and creamy on the palate. Nice porter.
