COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smoked porter for the lower forty-eight, with pumpkin. Brewed at Tangletown with pale and German smoked malt, as well as crystal, Munich, chocolate and black malts, with smoked pumpkin seeds in the mash and pumpkin in the kettle and fermenter. Earthy Ahtanum hops used throughout. Starting gravity 14(1.056).

on tap at brewery. dark, dark brown color. Smoky scent, smoked taste that leave the tongue dry. roasted pumpkin seed aftertaste. The use of pumpkin is interesting in this beer, as the smoked flavor obscures most of the pumpkin taste.

Dark bodied w. a cola head. Pleasant, deep, complex roasty aroma with a light smokiness. Like the stout, a nice roasted flavor, but no pumpkin.Chocolate notes, w. some graininess and the roastiness well-balanced by a soupcon of bitterness. A great porter, albeit lacking in pumpkin qualities.

Definitely a tasty smoked porter...didn’t get much from the pumpkin, but who cares? Lots of smoke taste, but not fake tasting. I hope to try this again in a week or two at the other Elysian Pumpkin fests.
