COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour Power, the artist formerly known as Pucker Puss, was brewed with pale, cara-hell, Special B and cara-Vienne malts, with dark Belgian candy and turbinado sugars, mild and dark molasses, coriander and orange peel in the boil. Bittered and flavored with EKG; finished with Saaz, Golden raisins in the fermenter. Secondary fermentation (isothermic, through the heat wave and everything) in port and whiskey barrels then blended before chilling, carbonation, and racking. Fermented with Trappist ale yeast and then with Wyeast Roeselare yeast. Starting gravity 18.85 P.

Lightly tart nose, mostly candi sugars, some whiskey notes, and soft Belgian Yeast. Pours dark brownish red, soft head that hangs out for a little while. Soft sour flavors are there throughout, probably lacto I think. Mostly brown sugars, candi sugars, whiskey barrel notes, and some spices. A hint of whiskey barrel sweetness in the finish.

Tap at the Blind Tiger during NYC Craft Beer Week. A touch of tart, mostly thin, butter aroma. Flavor starts sour but turns into pure, disgusting, undrinkable oil. Yuck!

Draft. Pours a dark amber body with an white head. Thin body, bretty dry and malty. A lighter fruit and lacto character with some fruity esters and a light woodiness.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Deep ruddy-amber pour. The nose has a touch of oaky woodiness and a kiss of light plumminess as well. A kiss of lightly rummy notes as well as quite a bit of fruit and light molasses. Flavour has a nice dried fruit component. Not really all that tart, but it is lovely. A kiss of cherry on the back. I like this.

Tap at Blind Tiger: Hazy brownish ruby with a tan film of head. Odd aroma- some buttery oak and tart fruity notes mesh with a touch of off solventy esters (acetone). Creamy body with a tannic flavor. Some buttery oak is apparent with toasted woody notes. Some off phenolics and esters make it a touch plasticy, though it isn’t overwhelming. A bit off, but drinkable.

On tap at the Blind Tiger - NYC. Minimal aroma. Maybe a bit of red currant and some bourbon. Pours a reddish brown. Flavor is very dry and crisp. Some light sourness and then a parching Brett edge. Some dusty old hops. A nice barrel character, well melded into the beer. Foamy. Tropical fruits really bloom in the backend. Nicely done. A good merge of boozy barrels and classic sour ale.
