COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beer and coffee are Seattle siblings, jealously dividing the day. Split Shot combines the talents of Elysian’s brewers with a pound per barrel of cold-infused, Seattle-produced Lighthouse coffee. It’ll open your eyes to a delicious new beer. Split Shot is the official beer of 2012 Seattle Beer Week.

[Bottle (12oz)] Pours a very dark reddish-brown with an average size lasting frothy tan head. Some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, coffee, lactic notes and light hops. Definitely coffee first though. Flavour of roasted malt, coffee and cream along with some light hops -- a bit too lactic for me. Average bodied. Good but didn’t do much for me for some reason.

Dark brown body shows medium-low clarity and a medium-sized light beige head with medium-low retention.
Salted caramel mixes with vanilla espresso in the nose and provides a fairly unique aroma for this now ubiquitous and mostly redundant style. Definite malt sweetness is there, adding more honey and vanilla, while some dry, lightly acidic roastiness hangs on the end, giving a pretty nice balance to the nose, overall.
Dry, roasted coffee flavors abound throughout a nicely attenuated body that has engaging but very light carbonation, creating a slick, somewhat watery texture. Liquorous-like vanilla and prunes are enjoyable, while an almost maple-like note lingers on the end, along with the reasonably reserved amount of coffee flavor. Good stuff, not just another cookie-cutter coffee stout/porter.

Poured dark brown with a tan head. The aroma instant roast coffee/espresso with slight biscuit notes. Nice light carb gives a really nice mouth feel. Taste is a sweet roast and mild bitterness. Great breakfast beer!

Dark brown, earthy chocolatey, smooth roastiness, the aroma is actually quite appetizing, with that earthy Victrola coming out quite a bit with its nutty, earthy overtones.

Bottle: Black with brown head. Aroma is strong coffee bean. Taste is silky smooth up front with loads of rich espresso coffee bean and roasted in the finish.

Dark reddish brown almost black pour with thin layer of brown head. Average carbonation, really really creamy mouthfeel, very clean finish that leaves the mouth feeling fluffy. Nose is subtle but delicious chocolate and coffee aromas are evident. Very nice sweet full bodied coffee roast flavor with perfect sweetness lended by very rich chocolate taste, no acidity at all. This is very well done, reminds me of a richer, lighter breakfast stout from founders.

Beautiful dark chocolate brown. A shallow crown of head. The aroma is dusty, nutty mocha & hazelnut. Rich breakfast blend coffee. Roasted but not burnt. The chocolate is of the crusty, chiseled-off-a-hunk type; very dark. The dryness is off the charts. I would inhale this stuff all day. The flavor is roasted cereal grains, followed by cold black coffee with a shot of hazelnut and caramel. The dry mocha brings up the rear. Feels slick and oily. This would be a GREAT beer for someone who doesn’t like beer but likes iced coffee. (Write that down.)

Bottle sent as an extra by Prufrockstar - thanks!! Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Some tan lacing too. Nice coffee nose with some roasted malt character too. Taste is roasted coffee and malt with a little burnt chocolate. Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side. Just a hint of lactose in the finish.
