3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a glubby dark brown color and leaves a finger and a half’s worth of a light semi-tan foamy head that dies into the body and leaves a nice spider web lacing sticking finely to the glass.
The smell has a powerful espresso aroma encompasses a delicately sweet chocolatey goodness combining and leading into a gentle roastiness.
The taste is mainly sweet through the chocolate and yet the espresso comes back to add a light roasty bitterness. The aftertaste has an exceptionally smooth chocolate goodness with a quick dry roasty finish.
On the palate, it sits about a light to medium - like it wants to try to sit heavier on the mouth but balances between the light and medium bodies; actually there’s a slight sessionability to this. Carbonation is exceptionally smooth just like a milk/sweet stout should be.
Overall, wow, I’m impressed that this beer is as good as it is. I would definitely have this again.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a thin, quick dissipating brown head atop a near opaque deep brown body. Nose is faint, obviously coffee. Flavour is much more potent then the aroma - and the body is very creamy, almost oily, but this is really a one dimensional coffee pressed beer. Good. Purchased at Hillside Liquores in Victoria, BC.

Black brew with an okay dark tan head with little retention.. spotty lacing.. Cold coffee and little actual "beer" presence..... nice lactose adds body and a light sweetness.. body is surprisingly bigger than I was expecting.. I guess the milk sugars help.. a hint of chocolate makes me think of the gas station Starbucks coffee drinks. light body yet still full.. I have been holding out on trying this one and am regretting it. This is a great beer for sure. Elysian should market this one based on the balance.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from 1 pint (6 fl oz) bottle. Dark brown, near-black with tan head. Strong coffee roast aroma. Roasted coffee flavour is dominant, but light, on the taste with some subtle lactic sweetness in the background. Medium body. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Noir avec un petit col marron. L’arôme du malt torréfié, du café et chocolat. D’abord le goût est du café, puis du chocolat. C’est bien équilibré avec une finition légèrement amer.

Mmm, it’s exactly as it’s labeled - nice shot of coffee followed by a sweet milk chocolate finish. This is excellent stuff! Pours black with a tan head that leaves a nice ring of lacing. The aroma is a great mix of roasted notes and chocolate. The texture is very smooth as this beer goes down easy and has you coming back for more! Well done!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark brown with a big khaki head. The aroma is roasty with coffee. On the palate there's a vanilla sweetness, mild coffee astringency, and some chocolate. Really easy to drink.

12-ounce bottle. Chocolate/cocoa, espresso, cream, lightly smokey malt. Slightly dry, slightly sweet. Medium-bodied, oily mouthfeel.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Fresh bottle, this one brewed with Stumptown coffee instead of Lighthouse. Crown off and the nose is nothing but rich, acrid coffee, room-filling and awesome with a bit of malt underneath. Pours dark brown-black with a creamy tan head. Light body but not watery, taste is sweet but not cloying, with relatively little bitterness and -- surprisingly -- not a whole lot of coffee. More mocha and milk character, faintly tart with nice tar and acrid sting, not the chocolaty or ashy kind. Enjoying but not falling all over myself to recommend.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nitro at craft ale house. Pours pitch black with a medium sized brown head. The aroma has plenty of coffee, milk chocolate, roasted malt. The taste is semi - sweet chocolate, plenty of coffee blended in. Delicious.
