COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beer and coffee are Seattle siblings, jealously dividing the day. Split Shot combines the talents of Elysian’s brewers with a pound per barrel of cold-infused, Seattle-produced Lighthouse coffee. It’ll open your eyes to a delicious new beer. Split Shot is the official beer of 2012 Seattle Beer Week.

On tap @ The Beer Junction. Nitro. High drinkability. Very nice, almost comforting, espresso taste with a solid stout to back it up. Not an overwhelming bitter taste, yet enough to compliment the robust malt sweetness and coffee finish. Fantabox

Serving: from bottle--purchased at Full Throttle Bottles. Aroma: moderate coffee and chocolate. Appearance: average-sized, frothy, light brown initial head with fair lacing and mostly diminishing longevity. Clear, cola-brown body. Taste: lightly bitter, chocolate and coffee initial flavor and lightly bitter, chocolate and roasty finish with average duration. Palate: medium body, oily texture and lively carbonation. Overall: great.

"Elysian continues to impress. Even after two versions of the beast that is Old Ruffian, this beer stood out...and at 5.6% to boot! Wonderful aroma of sweet dark chocolate and coffee. Super smooth body. light-medium palate. coffee and roast in the fore in the flavor. A wonderful coffee stout. the lactic quality in the flavor and body compliments the beer well."

low head retention, almost no head. Smell is a little on the cola side.Taste is pleasant, some roast on the middle and back. Over all a good stout, but nothing to really seek out. I was disappointed in this. Not a 97. More like 84

Transfer from BA review on 11-11-12- Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass Appearance – The beer is served a deep-deep brown nearly black color. When served there was a big brown head on the brew that faded over a moderate amount of time to give a light level of lacing. Smell – The aroma is of a sweet coffee smell mixed with a good dose of milk chocolate. Behind these aromas is a roasted malt and light vanilla smell. Taste- The taste begins with a roasted malt and coffee flavor. Upfront it also has some sweet chocolate flavors as well. These sweeter flavors dwindle as the taste advances with the chocolate becoming more bitter and the flavors of coffee/espresso getting stronger. While near the end a quite sweet lactose taste comes to the tongue making the beer on the sweeter side and balancing out the bitter with more sweetness. In the end the flavors when mixed together leave a mocha cappuccino flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the creamier side with a carbonation level that is rather average. The creamier body is very nice for the flavors of the beer and really accentuates the dark chocolate, coffee and roasted flavors. Overall – A pretty tasty stout. With it not being too heavy, it having a creamier feel and nice sweeter finish it is quite pleasant to drink and a nice beer to sip after a meal.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle. Opaque, mahogany-black with a 2-finger tan head and good lacing. Aroma of cocoa, roasted malt and chocolate milk. Taste of cappuccino, roasted malt, chocolate milk and sweet Asian plums. Light/medium body and medium/high carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. Just a tiny bit of red in this black beer. The foam is very big and is tan in color. The aroma is roast, lactic, and chocolate. Pleasant. The flavor is all of that along with some early zingy hops. That settles into citrus fruit including orange. The feel was nice and smooth. This was a nice beer.
