Bomber pours a yellowish orange color with a medium white head that leaves good lacing. Smells of orange, citrus, and pine. Tastes of all the same things in the smell with an odd sour funk in the back end that makes it wierd. I?m assuming its the blood oranges used. Mouthfeel was medium with pretty good carbonation. Overall this pretty good initially, but the sour funky bitter aftertaste you get isnt very appealing. I like the blood orange beer they brewed for the Beers of the Apocalypse series way better. I hope they tweak the recipe a bit. Definitely different from most pale ales I?ve had.

Aromas of blood orange, grapefruit, citrusy hops and a touch of pine. Pours a hazy golden/amber with a minimal white fizzy head. Taste brings forth stronger notes of hops and pine, with slight orange and grapefruit in the finish. Pretty solid citrus pale ale

Pours hazy pale gold with two fingers of loose white head, good retention, moderate lacing (4/5). Nose is orange peel, pine resin and floral hops, caramel malt (7/10). Taste is hop forward, then moderate caramel and citrus sweetness, finishing bitter (7/10). Medium body, moderate to low sustained carbonation, with a lingering bitter orange peel finish (4/5). I’m not sure what I was expecting, but that wasn’t it! That being said, the orange is actually very well done - its presence is more peel than pulp or juice, which works very well with the bitter hop character of the underlying APA. I guess I was expecting a sweet, orange juice-y character, but this is actually extremely restrained on the sweetness, imparting loads of citrus character without being sickly. And boy, does it linger! (15/20)

Cool label art Bottle to goblet Aroma of blood orange, pine, spruce, grapefruit, and pepper. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a creamy and frothy off white head. Taste is orange, syrup, spruce, pine, hops, and a touch of lagery skunk.

Bottle, picked up for $4.39 in Bozeman, MT. Hazy golden-yellow pour with a smallish white head. Spotty lacing. Nose is sweet with citrus hops and suggests the sweet citrus notes of lemonade. Good flavor from the blood oranges; a nice balance of citrus zest to the ‘fruitiness’ of the orange. This reminds me of fresh grapefruit, in addition to the blood orange. Mild, lingering bitters in the tail. I like this… I can’t believe how quick I emptied that glass. More please!

bottle, moderate sweetness, some alcohol burn for a 5.4 % OUCH, and a lot of blood orange flavor, which is cool, its gimmicky, but cool.

12 oz. bottle shared by Mike - thanks again! Pours a super hazy pale yellow-gold with lots of yeast floaters and a white head. Very wheaty and bready throughout in texture and flavor and aroma. The blood orange shows up mostly in the flavor. Also bread and florals in this one. Light-bodied, with a dry mouthfeel and high carbonation. Not bad, but a bit lacking in character for the description and label.

"Less hops than I’d have thought, especially since it’s a pretty new beer. A little disappointing there. But, the orange starts pleasant and builds from there, leaving a pleasant tingle on the tongie and a decent aroma. Without the orange, this would be a pretty crappy pale ale, but with it? Not too shabby."

Pours hazy amber with a large head. Nose shows sweet malt with cookie dough characters, a faint blood orange note and some soft spicy/floral hops. Same sweet malt and cookie dough as flavours along with a sweet note from the blood orange. A fair bit of hop bitterness in the finish along with spicy and earthy hops. Very drinkable.

Transfer from BA review on 5-5-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – Pours a hazy orange color with a slight copper tint. Upon pouring there is a one finger white head that has a good level of retention. The head slowly fades over time to leave a great level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell - The smell is big of a grainy like smell mixed with an orange citrus as well as a grapefruit hop like aroma. Mixed with these smells are some other lighter fruit aromas as well as a little bit of a grassy aroma. Taste - The taste starts with an tangerine and bready flavor with a fair amount of graininess. The tangerine flavor remains, but seems to dry out as the flavor continues growing much less sweet and more bitter as the flavor advances. One of the reasons the flavor bitters and dries as it advances is that a grapefruit hop flavor begins developing more toward the middle of the taste. This grapefruit hop grows stronger till the end of the taste, mixing with a more grainy flavor as well as some notes of a grassy and herbal nature to leave a drier hopped citrus and grainy flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel -The body of the beer is light with a carbonation level that is rather average. Both are very fitting for the tangerine and grainy flavors of the brew producing a refreshing beer overall. Overall – This was an interesting one, as it was much more bitter and hoppy then I was originally expecting. I was expecting a wit like brew and got something of a wit-IPA blend. While it was not what I was expecting, it was rather tasty and is well worth a try if you get the chance.
