12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, tiny bubbled, very well retained, off white head, with some lacing, over a very hazy, gold (SRM 5) body....nose is heavy citrus (orange in type), light cereal, minimal hop notes, no esters.....taste is citrus with grapefruit, orange, blood orange, lime (a fruit salad), minimal esters, light hop honey floral notes, finishing with a lingering bitterness....mouth feel, medium body, moderate astringency, moderate acid finish, with low carbonation. This is not an APA, it is rather a spice, herb, vegetable variant. The APA is lightly present, with the malts and hops nicely balanced. However they are both dominated, as is the yeast contributions, by the fruit additions. It is not an unpleasant beer, it just isn’t an APA. Rating above to enjoyment, with rating below to style. Bottle. Hazy straw with a thin white head. Aroma is resin, tangerine and citrus skins. Blood orange comes through in the taste backed up by resinous bitterness. Prickly carb. Nice change of pace.

12 oz bottle into a Duvel tulip. A: Pours a hazy...should I say it? Okay. Pours a hazy orange color. The head is a one finger offwhite shade that’s very bubbly in its texture. Some sheeted lacing is left behind as well. S: Pleasant tones of mango, pine, Simcoe cattiness, and crackery malt abound. I also pick up a hint of blood orange, as well - especially when it opens up - but given the advertising of blood oranges, I’d expect it to smell less like a typical Simcoe-hopped pale ale. To be fair, though, blood orange is a VERY common note in pale ales... T: It starts off with touches of pine and mango. After the midpoint is where the advertised blood oranges comes through, creating a juicy yet bitter finish. It’s not superbly interesting, all told, however it does live up to its billing. M: Not as clean as I’d like it to be. Also a bit on the heavy side in terms of texture. Pleasantly bitter and carbonated, though. O: The use of blood oranges here isn’t enough to make this stand out from the scores of pale ales on the market. I’d reckon its worth a try, just don’t expect to be blown away.

Medium sized, white head with fair retention and skimpy lace. Hazy, light copper, gold hued brew. nose is soft with citrus and pale malts.Body is lightly medium with a tingly little carbonation, lightly resiny and juicy. Pleasant fruitiness from the hops, little tropical and juicy with a dry, pale malt biscuity note. Dry, fruity finish, tame bite.. Enjoyable lil bugger. Bottle from statelineliquors.

sulawang (698) - British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 20, 2013
pours translucent marmalade orange with a very small head, barely any retention, and not much activity. Fragrant orange and grapefruit on the nose - very fruity and inviting. Attack: crisp, half silky/half creamy, oncoming sharp bitterness Mid-palate: fruity 5/10-sweet orange, grapefruit peel, malts, hints of pine Finish: long lingering grapefruity-hopped intense bitter finish Overall very balanced, drinkable, and a good-textured beer, but also quite aggressive with the hopped bitter finish.

Appearance: cloudy orange with a creamy, dense near white head and decent, silky lacing. Aroma: orange (of course), but also grapefruit, passion fruit, a bit of mango, some vanilla, and a bit of pine; almost like a tropical/citrus creamsicle, but not that sweet. Taste: bitter citrus up front, with definite blood orange and grapefruit notes, over a lighter bed of slightly toasty malts that try, but fail, to balance. Finish: bitter, slightly dry, with lingering orange flavors. Notes: Plenty of citrus, as advertised. The bottle art was pretty funky and cool.
