michael-pollack (2606), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 28, 2008 22oz. Bottle: Hoppy aroma with notes citrus, grapefruit, and caramel. Poured light orange/yellow/apple juice with a hint of amber in color and a large, dense, creamy, hilly, off-white head that lasted throughout. Clear. Not sparkling. Excellent lacing. Lightly sweet, light to medium bitter flavor. Tastes of hops, caramel, malts, butter, citrus, lemon, vanilla, and slight tropical fruits. Medium body. Oily texture. Soft to average carbonation. Sweet, hop and caramel finish. BeerBunker (607), Burbank, Illinois, USA Sep 27, 2008 Pours a golden orange with a beige head. Mild carbonation. Aroma of bitter hops, citrus, and pine. Taste is of crisp hops with an underlying taste of bitterness and malt flavors. Lingering hop bite. Thick mouthfeel, aided by the carbonation. Refreshing and tasty. GuilTTy (527), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA Sep 27, 2008 Bomber. Pours a slightly hazy copper/reddish with a medium tan head and thin lacing. Piney aroma. Some more pine in the flavor with citris (grapefruit), milk chocolate and fresh baked biscuits. Full-bodied and silky mouthfeel with a nice compliment of carbonation. Dry citrisy finish. Not a bad IPA but not a special one and with the high standards of the Pacific Northwest to brew up to, this is more of a Mortal than Immortal beer. BrotherGrendel (551), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Sep 26, 2008 Clear bright orange hue, modest white head sustains, moderate lacing.
Pine resin dominates the nose, light citrus and grass, bread malts, light fruits
Taste is bitter hops with floral and pine profile, biscuit and grain malts are quite prominent, pear and citrus near the end, finishes very dry.
Palate is medium, thick and resiny texture, high carbonation.
An uber-bitter UPS with subdued hop-related flavors (pine/floral/citrus), and an impressive malt presence, balanced and big even at 6%. Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Sep 21, 2008 Very large bright white head of fine bubbles. Reduces slowly and leaves a thick sticky sheet of lacing. Fruity hops aroma with some pear and apple. Light malt in there also. Little weak for an IPA but what is there is quite nice. Crystal clear orangish brown. Very smooth and easy drinking with more fruit (pear) and a bit of piney hops. Some biscuity malts for balance. This is a rather light bodied IPA. Finishes smooth, clean and bitter. A decent and very easy drinking IPA.
Taverner (827), San Ramon, California, USA Sep 15, 2008 Not as bad as the ratings would suggest. Still, uses more bittering hops at the end than floral ones. Could use a LOT more Alphas. Flavor is biscuity with an underlying bitterness that extends itself throughout the beer. hopson (591), Williamsville, New York, USA Sep 15, 2008 22 oz. Very ho-hum- not that bright hop flavor I look for and expect in a PNW brewed IPA- more light citric, much in the family of Avery IPA- not a compliment. WeeHeavySD (2942), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Sep 14, 2008 Bomber I bought on my last trip to the Northwest. Pours orange with a 3 finger puffy puffy tan head. Nose is sweet and citrussy. Taste has some nice citrus and some hoppy bitterness. This is a decent IPA.
