Retention for such a dimunitive head is excellent. The aroma is of mellow pine, new wood, lightly toasted grains and tangerine rind. Flavor is moderately bitter, lightly sweet and lightly to moderately acidic. The malt holds it’s own, just barely. Finishes resiny, bitter and drying. The mouthfeel is adequately carbonated, dusty and medium bodied. Average. theisti (1654), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jun 27, 2007 Draft, at the Seattle Brew Pub. Pour is orange gold with a smallish white head. Aroma is hop and a little bit of chemical funkiness. Taste is the bright floral hops, but strong chemical egg and popcorn was there too - probably diacytel. This was not terribly enjoyable. Aroma is sweet and floral, albeit too subtle. Sour lemon pithy bitterness in taste with vigorous carbonation, and resinous hop-oil aftertaste. pours a semi-cloudy amber-orange with a small off-white head that goes away quickly, and good lacing.
smell of grapefruit, citrus sweet, a touch of pine, some caramel, and orange.
taste is somewhat creamy, dry leaves, a light sweet, light bitter, a little orange, touch of caramel, some pine, and some nuts in the back, ends bitter with a sweet aftertaste. rayg1 (437), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 18, 2007 This beer wasn’t too bad. Pours out orange with a decent white head. Smell is a bit hoppy no citrus that I’m used to in these west coast IPA’s. Taste is clean and smooth with a nice punch of hops but not over the top at all. I will say that the slight buttery taste from the diacytel took away from it a bit. Still a good beer. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 12, 2007 Bottle which Garrett brought to my house last night. Thanks man. Pours out a orange color with a thick white head on it. Smell is slightly hoppy, with a touch of a butter note. Taste was smooth and rich, somewhat hoppy, but had a bit of diacytel in it. Not bad by any means, but I was expecting a PNW IPA, not an English style IPA. Id like to get a bottle that didnt have diacytel in it though. gogglegurf (9), Washington, USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 25, 2007 Great Hop Flavor start to finish.
