Aroma is the usual... grapefruit, pine, citrus, resin, some fruit, caramel. Fairly standard mouthfeel, bitter but not overly so. Enjoyable but a dime a dozen. blueduk (118), Eugene, Oregon, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 6, 2006 My bottle pours a brownredorange liquid with a big foamy, barely off-white head with good retention. There are both malt and hops in the aroma, which gives me hope. Nose is dominated by lemon-limey citrus, although there are some herbal notes and the impression of a freshly cut oak sapling. The malt suggestions in the nose are mostly caramel. I don’t feel like these aromas harmonize very well, a harbinger of things to come.
The beer is medium to full bodied with a big bitterness that lasts long into the finish, growing on the way, I don’t feel like this beer has a solid sense of what it wants to be. There’s the acidity for one thing, and then the malt sugars want to join in but they don’t know the tune. The caramel, cereal, and graininess is good, but misses the bull’s eye. This is a very average IPA in search of an identity. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 6, 2006 Thanks to Kenb for this IPA. Pours a medium amber with small head. This is a nice smooth mild IPA. Nothing overdone. Great balance of hops and malts. Hints of pine and a little citrus with a dryish finish. Tasty. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 29, 2006 Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Pours a medium golden color with a hint of orange. Moderate hoppy bitter aroma right off of the bat. Somewhat subdued. Moderate spicy bitterness up front. Alot of grapefruit peel. A little bit of sweetness as well. Bitter throughout. Although it is good, there is nothing that really makes it special. bitterpeanut (15), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 26, 2006 Poured from a 22oz bomber. Pours with a nice think white head. This brew is bottle conditioned and the yeast used really cleaned up this beer. This IPA is not as cloudy as most IPAs with its golden-orange color. I’m not sure if this was dry-hopped or not, but the hop aroma isn’t as pronounced as you might expect. A nice citrus and herbal nose. On the palette the Immortal IPA has a light to medium body that gets a little thicker when the hop bitterness kicks in. A little on the high side for carbonation IMHO. A sweet light malty flavor accompanied by a medium to heavy bitterness. I would buy this one again for sure. Dickinsonbeer (3449), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 25, 2006 KSBF 06 after party. Thanks to Kenb for hooking me up on this one! Pours a light amber/copper with a nice tight thick head, and some good lace. Aroma is pungent and orangy with slight cascade-metallicy-ness. Citrusy hop flavor with some light pine- ligth crystal malts and toasty. Good very clean moderate bitterness. Not over the top, but definitely nice and hoppy. Solid IPA. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 25, 2006 Pours with a golden orange body topped by a thick head with some lacing. It’s bitter with a mostly grassy hop note, a hint of pineyness and an underlying malt note. The aroma is lacking. Medium bodied, dry and smooth. IslandHaole (1035), Onna-Son, Okinawa-Ken, Japan
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 24, 2006 Deep amber/orange color with active carbonation. A massive thick, sculptable foamy tan head leaves patches of lacing on the glass. Typical wonderful hoppy IPA scent with pine and grapefruit rinds. A brisk, cleansing bitterness up front with just a hint of caramel sweetness appearing before giving way to a lingering bitter follow. A solid offering in the crowded IPA field. It’s been so long, I’ve forgotten who to thank for this but I think it’s BuckDich.
