pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jun 28, 2006 On cask in Seattle’s Brouer’s Cafe. A loose soapy foamly white head sitting atop a slightly hazy brownish orange brew. A forward floral hop aroma with strong peach and some slightly sweet mango. Incredibly easy drinking, as it was on cask. Decent viscosity and tiny tiny tiny bubbles gave this brew enough body to be decent without the added CO2. Really fruity flavors. Apricot, peach flower hops. Light malt, adding a slight sweetness. Absolutely no alcohol detectable. This beer could’ve been a hop bomb if it turned the malt and hops up a bit, but it opted instead to be a nice session beer. tcruicks (282), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jun 28, 2006 Orange-brown in color, a bit cloudy, and a fluffy white head. The aroma has a lot of hops and malt, and is lightly fruity. The flavour is hoppy, bitter, creamy, some caramel. Rastacouere (5552), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jun 27, 2006 Hazy orange with ruby reflects. The head is white and quickly recedes to cover. Just like their bitter, this Elysian shows nutty, soapy, earthy maltiness that serves as a base for the mostly aromatic hops display. Quite citric, piney and grapefruity, tangerine-like from the beginning to the finish. Smooth bitterness paired with more acidity than most. Rather thick maltiness despite its low flavours, moderately carbonated and slightly alcoholic. Good. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jun 25, 2006 Golden IPA with a thin white head. Rather funky hops, with piney and orange notes. Nice refreshing floral hops in mouth, coniferous and menthol. Rich bodied and smooth. Very well made IPA. Mondial 2006. jujutsuweasel (6), Olympia, Washington, USA does not count Jun 23, 2006 Not a bad little IPA. Golden-amber in color. Light body, very drinkable. Just a little bitterness and a touch of tannins. Not an all-out assault of bitternes; more of a recon that retreats easily for a palatable finish. All in all, good brew for the value. LadySusan (462), Ste-Therese, Quebec, Canada Jun 18, 2006 First is the copper color then you taste the sweet taste of grapefruit, what a nice flavor of fruity malt. You finish with a bit of a bitter in your mouth, just good. DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Jun 15, 2006 5 ounce sample on tap at Tangletown Publick House in Seattle. Piney, PNW hop aroma with some mildly sweet smaltiness. Typical IPA aroma. Not overly special. Transparent copper color with a whitish head and decent lacing. Piney piney bitter hoppiness to start, without really any malt backbone. Tastes like hop tea. Needs some balance. Not a very enjoyable IPA. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Jun 10, 2006 From a 22 oz, brown bomber bottle with a cartoon Greek god-like figure on the front label, no bottled/freshness date.
Made a good appearance, poured a cloudy reddish hued golden orange with a foamy white head that settled into a thin lacing, minimal amount of sticking, good carbonation.
Had a nose of fruity malts and piney, citric grapefruity and leafy hops.
A crisp, hop textured and smooth medium bodied mouth feel, very good AIPA drinkability.
Quite tasty, a balanced sweet fruity malts and a dry leafy grapefruity hops, a rolling bitterness with a soft numbing of the tongue, some spiciness as well and a dry citric bitter and fruity finish with the hops lingering in the palate.
A really balanced and delicious AIPA, if you like IPA’s. a must try.
