I guess I’m a sucker for this style, though, since I continue to rate these beers higher than raters whose opinions I trust more than my own. Cloudy orange with a good white head and decent lacing. Lots of bitterness, lots of grapefruit hops, decent malt for balance. Nothing remarkable, simple rather than complex, but immensely pleasant. I guess the American IPA and the Willamette hops just work for me. Brad (364), Berkley, Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 1, 2005 Bottle, bomber: Cloudy orange/amber with a large frothy head and decent carbonation. Aromas of sweet hops, lemon/orange, grapfruit, grains. Flavor was of powerful cascade hops balanced nicely with smoother caramel malts. Long drying aftertaste. An enjoyable beer. pobenohne (504), Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 23, 2005 Draft at the Abbaye. Hazy golden ale, no head, thin lace. Starts off like a classic american IPA: juicy hops covering a malt base. Finishes with a slightly soapy aftertaste. maltdog (514), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 19, 2005 Bomber bottle. Pours average amber/orange with vigorous bubbles, decent head, and very slight haze. Add one point for the phenomenal sheetlike lacing. Aroma screams GRAPEFRUIT; also suggestions of salt, Swiss cheese, and campfire embers. Flavor of resiny, cedary hops. There’s a flash of really good New York style pizza crust before the woody, peppery finish storms in. Palate is actually on the light side. Aftertaste is a little rough…like chewing on a hop pellet…long lasting and almost Orval-like. Overall, fairly one-dimensional and unbalanced/overhopped. scraff (1933), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 18, 2005 Shimmering gold, fizzy white head. The aromas played out with juicy citrus, grains, and nutty caramel, with subtle tones of a earth and bread. An up front soft candied citric hop bitterness gets balanced nicely in the end with the sweet nutty caramel malt. Just about medium bodied, medium carbonation, drying, bittersweet, citric finish. Nice easy drinking session IPA...

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 17, 2005 Hazy bright orange color with white creamy head. Smooth enticing hop aroma. Not sharp or overly strong. Very smooth over the tongue. Exceptionally well balanced. Hops are obviously present but they play well with the strong malt presence. Begs to be guzzled. footbalm (1218), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

is very pleasant.I was with some non-hopheads and some of them still thought it was to much.I actually liked this a lot.The taste was mellow and left a good bitter bite on the back of my throat. presario (2956), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
