Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 6, 2009 Bottle 65 cl. Slightly hazy golden with a creamy, off-white head. Lightly citrusy hops in the nose. Medium body, sweet fruits and caramel. Lightly citrusy hop finish. 130809 williamherbert (461), Syracuse, New York, USA Aug 30, 2009 Pours an uncharacteristic light golden color. The head is thick and white like shaving cream. Carbonation like ginger ale.
The smell is a standard -- but inviting -- IPA aroma. Bready with a flowery pilsnery hop. Some pine needles, but a touch of chlorine.
The taste is very bready malt, with lightly toasted barley. They are a nice foundation for the sharp estery hop. Dandelions and weeds. Roasted black licorice and tobacco come through with more warmth.
Leaves a thick, burnt film on the tongue. Sweet and flowery, but with a thick, heavily roasted malt base. An English IPA with flowery American hops. Starts sweet; ends bitter. Nena (121), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 24, 2009 Updated: Oct 9, 2009Golden colored with a white head. Leaves nice layered lacing. Strong grapefruit rind and resiny hops with caramel malt flavors. The sweet caramel comes through pretty strong to me once this warms up. Overall, quite a solid IPA. Aggy360 (115), Anchorage/ Vista,CA, Alaska, USA Aug 20, 2009 Pours a clear golden yellow with an alright white head that fades fast but leaves a lace. Slightly hazy likely from dry hopping. Caramel/ toffee nose with a light NW hop character. Taste bitter up front with a good malt balance, some sweet malt and caramel character. Then finished off bitter. Crisp and balanced, well carbonated and medium bodied. A well made IPA. badlizard (2326), Berkeley, California, USA Aug 17, 2009 Clear golden with a fizzy white head. Caramel, grapefruit, nectar, and some orange notes to the aroma and taste with a watery finish and mild bitterness. jazz88 (2236), San Francisco, California, USA Aug 16, 2009 Bottle. A hazy golden color with a foamy white head. A citrus hop aroma with a light pine flavor and caramel malty finish. Light and a rather bland finish. joergen (8430), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 14, 2009 Bottle at Papsø.
