acearl (207), J-Town, Pennsylvania, USA May 3, 2009 22 0zer, Golden hue with very foamy white head, very farm house-esque in the head. A bit malty, not overly hoppy, decent in the English style but the west coast should stick to the west coast style IPA, decently balanced overall but some bitterness in aftertaste. Drinkable, not too complex, unoffensive. GAManiac (1124), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 3, 2009 12oz bottle shared at the Brick Store.
Pours a clear golden with a fluffy white head that recedes pretty quickly and leaves little lacing.
The aroma is almost as malty as it is hoppy with lots of caramel malts with a hints of floral and earthy hops on top.
The taste follows the aroma with a little more hops than the aroma would suggest. It’s got a little bit of citrus and floral hops up front before the generous malt profile takes over.
The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and almost too thin. It’s got good carbonation and a pretty subdued hop profile which leads to little bitterness on the palate.
This a well-balanced and very drinkable IPA that could probably use a little more hops to make it great. Still, not bad. savnac (394), Palmer, Alaska, USA May 3, 2009 22oz bottle. Big citrus hop aroma mixed with a bread like malt smell. Clear amber/orange with a fluffy off white head that leave a bit of lace. Bitter taste that fades into a sweet malty flavor and finishing bitter again. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and a refreshing finish. This is a very solid IPA. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA May 1, 2009 Sampled at SF International Beer Fest. This one was decent but didn’t blow me away. Hazy golden appearance with a white head. Aroma is sweet malt with somewhat of a muted hop presence for the style. Flavor is pale malt, caramel, and some citrusy C-hops. Medium body and carbonation. iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA Apr 29, 2009 22oz bottle, no date from the Bottle Barn for $3.49. Clear orange amber with a two finger off-white head, good retention. Aroma of pale caramel malts (kind of a bland caramel with some biscuity malts to make up the rest of the absent caramel, if that makes sense) with a fair amount of pine and lighter citrus rinds to round out the flavor. Flavor is much the same with only a little more citrus coming out. The finish is semi-dry with just a hint of alcohol showing, and bitterness was around a 4. Light prickly carbonation with a medium body. An OK IPA. marcus (1826), Sacramento, California, USA Apr 19, 2009 This copper ale poured with a decent beige head and a floral fruity aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor and a light lingering hop bitterness at the finish. It’s a pretty standard ale that would make a good session beer. HighlanderOne (538), Somewherein, New Jersey, USA Apr 11, 2009 Poured from big bottle. Aroma of malts and rotting grass. Amber, seafoam head. Seems to be equal parts malt and hop in the flavor. Some fruit and vanilla notes. This would be a solid pale ale, but as an IPA, it falls short. buzzoven (333), Japan Apr 10, 2009 Pours a clear golden copper with a sudsy head. Pine and grass and slight lemon on the nose. Fairly average tasting IPA here with a smooth, round body and plenty of hoppy bitterness in the end. There was also a nice crisp dry finish. Not quite as "immortal" as I was hoping for, but a well made brew.
