Clear orange amber with a two finger off-white head, good retention. Aroma of pale caramel malts (kind of a bland caramel with some biscuity malts to make up the rest of the absent caramel, if that makes sense) with a fair amount of pine and lighter citrus rinds to round out the flavor. Flavor is much the same with only a little more citrus coming out. The finish is semi-dry with just a hint of alcohol showing, and bitterness was around a 4. Light prickly carbonation with a medium body. An OK IPA. marcus (1853), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 19, 2009 This copper ale poured with a decent beige head and a floral fruity aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor and a light lingering hop bitterness at the finish. It’s a pretty standard ale that would make a good session beer. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 11, 2009 Poured from big bottle. Aroma of malts and rotting grass. Amber, seafoam head. Seems to be equal parts malt and hop in the flavor. Some fruit and vanilla notes. This would be a solid pale ale, but as an IPA, it falls short. buzzoven (333), Japan
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 10, 2009 Pours a clear golden copper with a sudsy head. Pine and grass and slight lemon on the nose. Fairly average tasting IPA here with a smooth, round body and plenty of hoppy bitterness in the end. There was also a nice crisp dry finish. Not quite as "immortal" as I was hoping for, but a well made brew. mesperon (135), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 9, 2009 Mellow hop aroma, nice floral hop taste, but doesn’t measure up to the name. Not just the IPA name. I would call this a good Pale, but not an IPA. But when a beer is called Immortal, i expect to be floored by overpowering hops and a flavor that will remain on my palate for ages. As it was, it was good, but not memorable, and very mortal. linc33 (177), Albany, New York, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | Apr 6, 2009 From a bomber. Fantastic IPA colour, good aroma, but extremely light on taste. Definitely not PNW-style IPA, and I don’t have enough knowledge of the British style to make a determination. Strong hop finish. Was not satisfied. hayduke (1637), Eureka, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 1, 2009 This 22 oz bottle was brewed by the Boulder Brewing Company under an agreement. It poured a copper color with a fat white head and good lacing. Nose was of citrus hops and pine. Very rich and creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is lightly bitter and the finish is long, smooth and bitter as well. Very easy to drink and exceptionally refreshing. yesyouam (589), Fairport, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2009 Elysian The Immortal IPA is a dense, slightly hazy, bubbly golden ale with a thick, frothy, foamy off-white head that has great retention and lacing. It has a syrupy sweet aroma like malt candy and something floral. It is medium-full bodied; very smooth and syrupy. It’s kind of bitter, but quite sweet. The sweetness is a bit much. It actually kind of tastes floral, like violet candy. It’s pretty good, but I didn’t really need a full bomber of this. I’m sweet enough already.
