10/20/07 On draught at the Capitol Hill brewery. Aroma is citrus and grassy hops forward, with a very light sweet malt balance. Appearance is a hazy yellow gold with a low white head. Flavor is highly bitter hops forward, grassy with sweet citrus and some earthiness. It’s well banaced with the sweet malt but not integrated. Mouthfeel is medium/low bodied with a medium carb feel. Overall, strong and interesting, but just needs the flavors to be better merged.
2/20/09 On draft at Elysian Capitol Hill, Seattle, Wa. Aroma is an even c-hop and caramel blend, simple but satisfying. Appearance is hazy orange with a well maintained white head. Flavor is a blend of very sweet malt and very sour hops; bittering is relatively low for an ipa. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a medium, slightly spritzy carb texture. Overall, just not that easy drinking.

Pours a thin copper color from the bomber with a trim off-white head. Fair carbonation and mild sediment. Smells and tastes of crisp red apples and bitter hops. Lacking depth and an element of citrus. Much more like an ESB than advertised.

on tap at good times, pretty good, hoppy and malty with a bite of the Northwest, i don;t know what that means but it sounds good and i know i mean it, typical IPA good not bad decent but not mediocre citrusy in general

Tap at Barclays. Was a bit disappointing, expected more. Pours with an amber color and a smallish head. Some aromas of grapefruit and citrus but not floral or anything. Was a bit rough around the edges, hop flavors were somewhat harsh, the malt backbone did not generate any contrast to the hops. NorCal’s own such as Blind Pig or Racer 5 are clearly better, so is Avery IPA.

Bottle. Pretty clear dark golden with good head and lacing. Light earthy/grass and citrus aroma with a malt background. Nice sharp hop bite with malt follow-up. Good lingering bitterness. Very drinkable IPA.

Tap. Pours a light straw color with a white head. Aroma is citrus hops, not much else. Taste is citrus and floral hops up front with slight malt and wheat on the finish. Beer was fairly smooth, though those hops definitely stay with you. It’s good, but not great.

Bottle from the rip and run. Eager to try it since an old co-worker rambled about it since he now lives in Seattle. The quick search shows that no one had the issue that I had with this ctritter. The gentlest of pours yields the largest rolicking and lively head i have ever had to deal with. It took me 45 minutes to pour the entire thing. After this arduous experience, I assumed that if one was immortal, they would literally have all the time in the world to deal with a seemingly fleeting issue of pouring a beer. I, on the other hand, am not immortal and was a bit unsettled by this experience. Aroma was lost on me since I was attempting not to make an entire mess of it. hops were average and once the whole shebang decided to act like a beer to be consumed it had some nice clear orange hue. Some nice grapefruit hop bite for finish. Ehh.
